3:1
And Naomi her mother-in-law said to her: “My daughter, shall I not seek rest for you, that it may be good for you?
3:2
And now, is not Boaz our relative, with whose young women you were? See, he is winnowing barley tonight at the threshing floor.
3:3
Wash yourself therefore, and anoint yourself, and put your garments upon you, and go down to the threshing floor. Do not make yourself known to the ish until he has finished eating and drinking.
3:4
And it shall be, when he lies down, that you shall know the place where he lies. And you shall go in, and uncover the place at his feet, and lie down. And he will declare to you what you shall do.”
3:5
And she said to her: “All that you say to me, I will do.”
3:6
And she went down to the threshing floor and did according to all that her mother-in-law had commanded her.
3:7
And Boaz ate and drank, and his heart was good. And he went to lie down at the end of the heap of grain. And she came quietly, and uncovered the place at his feet, and lay down.
3:8
And it came to pass at midnight that the ish trembled and turned himself. And see, an ishah was lying at his feet.
3:9
And he said: “Who are you?” And she said: “I am Rut your maidservant. Spread your wing over your maidservant, for you are a redeemer.”
3:10
And he said: “Blessed are you of Yahuah, my daughter. You have made your latter Covenant-Faithfulness greater than the former, in that you did not go after the young men, whether poor or rich.
3:11
And now, my daughter, do not fear. All that you say I will do for you, for all the gate of my people knows that you are an ishah of strength.
3:12
And now, truly I am a redeemer. Yet there is also a redeemer nearer than I.
3:13
Remain tonight. And it shall be in the morning, if he will redeem you, good—let him redeem. But if he does not desire to redeem you, then living is Yahuah, I will redeem you. Lie down until the morning.”
3:14
And she lay at his feet until morning. And she arose before an ish could recognize his companion. And he said: “Let it not be known that the ishah came to the threshing floor.”
3:15
And he said: “Bring the covering that is upon you and hold it.” And she held it. And he measured six measures of barley and placed it upon her. And he went into the city.
3:16
And she came to her mother-in-law. And she said: “Who are you, my daughter?” And she declared to her all that the ish had done for her.
3:17
And she said: “These six measures of barley he gave to me, for he said to me: ‘Do not go empty to your mother-in-law.’”
3:18
And she said: “Sit, my daughter, until you know how the matter will fall. For the ish will not rest unless he completes the matter today.”
