1
The burden of the Word of Yahuah to Yisra’el by the hand of Malakhi.
2
“I have loved you,” says Yahuah. But you say: “How have You loved us?” “Was not Esav Yaaqov’s brother?” declares Yahuah. “Yet I loved Yaaqov,
3
but Esav I hated. And I made his mountains a desolation, and his inheritance for the tanninim of the wilderness.”
4
Though Edom says: “We have been beaten down, but we will return and rebuild the ruins,” thus says Yahuah of Hosts: “They may build, but I will tear down. And they shall be called: ‘Boundary of Wickedness,’ and: ‘The people against whom Yahuah is indignant forever.’
5
And your eyes shall see it, and you shall say: ‘Great is Yahuah beyond the border of Yisra’el.’”
6
“A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If then I am a Father, where is My honor? And if I am a Master, where is My fear?” says Yahuah of Hosts to you, kohenim, “who despise My Name. But you say: ‘How have we despised Your Name?’
7
By bringing near defiled bread upon My altar. But you say: ‘How have we defiled You?’ By saying: ‘The Table of Yahuah is contemptible.’
8
And when you bring near the blind for sacrifice, is there no evil? And when you bring near the lame and the sick, is there no evil? Bring it now to your governor. Will he be pleased with you? Or will he lift your face?” says Yahuah of Hosts.
9
“And now, entreat the face of El, that He may show us favor. This has been from your hand. Will He lift your face?” says Yahuah of Hosts.
10
“Who among you would even shut the doors, so that you would not kindle My altar for nothing? I have no delight in you,” says Yahuah of Hosts, “and I will not accept a grain offering from your hand.
11
For from the rising of the sun even to its going down, My Name shall be great among the nations. And in every place incense shall be brought near to My Name, and a pure grain offering. For My Name shall be great among the nations,” says Yahuah of Hosts.
12
“But you profane it when you say: ‘The Table of Adonai is defiled, and its fruit, its food, is contemptible.’
13
And you say: ‘See, what weariness!’ And you sniff at it,” says Yahuah of Hosts. “And you bring what was torn, and the lame, and the sick, and you bring it as an offering. Shall I accept it from your hand?” says Yahuah.
14
“But cursed is the deceiver who has in his flock a male, and vows it, but sacrifices to Adonai what is blemished. For I am a great King,” says Yahuah of Hosts, “and My Name is feared among the nations.”
