1
Thus Adonai Yahuah showed me: And see, a basket of summer fruit.
2
And He said: “Amos, what do you see?” And I said: “A basket of summer fruit.” Then Yahuah said to me: “The end has come upon My People Yisra’el. I will no longer pass over him again.
3
And the songs of the palace shall become wailings in that day,” declares Adonai Yahuah. “Many shall be the corpses. In every place they shall cast them out. Silence.”
4
Hear this, you who swallow up the needy and cause the poor of the land to cease,
5
saying: “When will the new moon pass, that we may sell grain? And the Shabbat, that we may open the wheat— making the ephah small and the sheqel great, and falsifying the scales of deceit,
6
buying the poor for silver and the needy for a pair of sandals, and selling the refuse of the grain?”
7
Yahuah has sworn by the Pride of Yaaqov: “Surely I will never forget any of their deeds.
8
Shall not the land tremble because of this, and everyone dwelling in it mourn? And all of it shall rise like the Nile, and be driven and sink like the river of Mitzrayim.
9
And it shall be in that day,” declares Adonai Yahuah, “that I will cause the sun to go down at midday and darken the earth in broad daylight.
10
And I will turn your feasts into mourning and all your songs into lamentation. And I will bring sackcloth upon every waist and baldness upon every head. And I will make it like mourning for an only son, and its end like a bitter day.
11
See, days are coming,” declares Adonai Yahuah, “when I will send a famine upon the land— not a famine for bread, nor a thirst for water, but for hearing the Words of Yahuah.
12
And they shall wander from sea to sea and from north even to east. They shall run to and fro seeking the Word of Yahuah, but they shall not find it.
13
In that day the beautiful virgins and the young men shall faint from thirst.
14
Those who swear by the guilt of Shomron and say: ‘As your elohim lives, Dan,’ and, ‘As the way of Be’er-Sheva lives,’ they shall fall and never rise again.”
