1
I also am mortal, like every Adam, and a descendant of the first one formed from earth. And in the womb of a mother I was shaped into flesh,
2
within the time of ten months, being compacted in blood from the seed of an ish and the pleasure that comes with sleep.
3
And when I was born, I drew in the common air and fell upon the earth which bears all alike, and the first sound I uttered, like all others, was weeping.
4
I was nourished in swaddling cloths and with care.
5
For no king had any other beginning of birth.
6
There is one entrance into life for all, and one departure.
7
Therefore I prayed, and understanding was given to me. I called upon Elohim, and the ruach of wisdom came to me.
8
I preferred her before scepters and thrones, and I counted wealth as nothing in comparison with her.
9
Neither did I compare a precious stone with her, because all gold before her is like a little sand, and silver shall be counted as clay before her.
10
I loved her more than health and beauty, and chose to have her rather than light, because her radiance does not sleep.
11
Yet together with her all good things came to me, and immeasurable wealth was in her hands.
12
I rejoiced in them all because wisdom leads them, though I did not know that she was their mother.
13
Without deceit I learned her, and without envy I give her. I do not hide her wealth.
14
For she is an unfailing treasure for Adam. Those who acquire her prepare themselves for friendship with Elohim, being commended by the gifts that come through discipline.
15
May Elohim grant me to speak according to understanding and to conceive thoughts worthy of what has been given, for He Himself is the guide of wisdom and the corrector of the wise.
16
For both we and our words are in His hand, as are all understanding and skill in works.
17
For He gave me true knowledge of the things that exist, to know the structure of the world and the workings of the elements,
18
the beginning, the end, and the middle of times, the changes of the turning points, and the transformations of seasons,
19
the cycles of years and the positions of stars,
20
the natures of living beings, the impulses of wild creatures, the powers of ruachot, the reasonings of Adam, the varieties of plants, and the powers of roots.
21
And all things, whether hidden or manifest, I learned.
22
For wisdom, the fashioner of all things, taught me. For in her is a ruach intelligent, holy, unique, manifold, subtle, mobile, clear, undefiled, plain, unharmed, loving what is good, sharp,
23
unhindered, beneficent, loving Adam, steadfast, sure, free from anxiety, all-powerful, all-seeing, and penetrating through all intelligent, pure, and most subtle ruachot.
24
For wisdom is more mobile than any motion. Because of her purity, she passes through and penetrates all things.
25
For she is a breath of the Power of Elohim, and a pure outflow from the Glory of the Almighty. Therefore nothing defiled enters into her.
26
For she is the radiance of everlasting light, an unspotted mirror of the working of Elohim, and an image of His goodness.
27
Though she is one, she is able to do all things. Remaining in herself, she renews all things, and from generation to generation she enters holy beings and makes them companions of Elohim and prophets.
28
For Elohim loves none except the one who dwells with wisdom.
29
For she is more beautiful than the sun and above every arrangement of the stars. Compared with light, she is found to be before it.
30
For night succeeds light, but wickedness does not overcome wisdom.
