1
Let all who are under a yoke as enslaved people regard their own masters as worthy of full honor, so that the name of Elohim and the teaching may not be blasphemed.
2
Those who have faithful masters must not despise them because they are brothers. Instead, they must serve them all the more because those receiving the benefit are faithful and beloved. Teach and exhort these things.
3
If anyone teaches differently and does not consent to sound words—those of our Master Yahushua the Mashiyach—and to the teaching that accords with reverence,
4
he is swollen with pride and understands nothing, but has an unhealthy craving for controversies and disputes about words. From these come envy, strife, slander, evil suspicions,
5
and constant friction among people corrupted in mind and deprived of truth, imagining reverence to be a means of gain.
6
Yet reverence with contentment is great gain.
7
For we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot carry anything out.
8
If we have food and covering, we will be content with these.
9
But those determined to be rich fall into testing, a snare, and many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.
10
For the love of silver is a root of all kinds of evil. By reaching for it, some wandered away from the faithfulness and pierced themselves through with many pains.
11
But you, man of Elohim, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, reverence, faithfulness, love, endurance, and gentleness.
12
Fight the good contest of faithfulness. Take hold of everlasting life, to which you were called and for which you made the good confession before many witnesses.
13
I charge you before Elohim, who gives life to all things, and before Yahushua the Mashiyach, who testified the good confession before Pontios Pilatos:
14
keep the command unstained and beyond accusation until the appearing of our Master Yahushua the Mashiyach,
15
which the blessed and only Sovereign will reveal in its own appointed times—the King of those who reign and Master of those who rule,
16
who alone possesses immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no human being has seen or is able to see. To him be honor and everlasting dominion. Amein.
17
Command those who are rich in the present age not to be arrogant, nor to set hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on Elohim, who richly supplies us with all things for enjoyment.
18
Command them to do good, to be rich in good works, generous, and ready to share,
19
storing up for themselves a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of the life that truly is life.
20
Timotheos, guard what was entrusted to you. Turn away from profane, empty talk and the contradictions of what is falsely called “knowledge.”
21
By professing it, some have missed the mark concerning the faithfulness. Favor be with you.
