1
My brothers, do not hold the trust of our glorious Master, Yahushua the Anointed, with partiality toward faces.
2
For if an ish enters your assembly wearing a gold ring and splendid clothing, and a poor ish also enters wearing filthy clothing,
3
and you look with favor upon the one wearing the splendid clothing and say: “You sit here in a good place,” but to the poor ish you say: “You stand there,” or: “Sit beneath my footstool,”
4
have you not made divisions among yourselves and become judges with evil reasonings?
5
Hear, my beloved brothers. Did Elohim not choose the poor of this world to be rich in trust and heirs of the Kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?
6
But you dishonored the poor. Is it not the rich who oppress you and drag you before courts?
7
Is it not they who blaspheme the good Name which has been called upon you?
8
If indeed you fulfill the royal Torah, according to the writing: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you do well.
9
But if you show partiality toward faces, you commit sin and are convicted by the Torah as transgressors.
10
For whoever guards the whole Torah but stumbles in one matter has become accountable for all.
11
For the One who said: “You shall not commit adultery,” also said: “You shall not murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery but you murder, you have become a transgressor of the Torah.
12
So speak and so act as those about to be judged through the Torah of freedom.
13
For Judgment shall be without compassion toward the one who showed no compassion. Compassion triumphs over Judgment.
14
What benefit is there, my brothers, if someone says he has trust but does not have works? Is that trust able to deliver him?
15
If a brother or sister is without clothing and lacking the food needed for the day,
16
and one of you says to them: “Go in shalom. Be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things necessary for the body, what benefit is there?
17
So also trust, if it does not have works, is dead by itself.
18
But someone shall say: “You have trust, and I have works.” Show me your trust without the works, and I shall show you my trust from my works.
19
You trust that Elohim is one. You do well. Even the unclean ruachot trust this and tremble.
20
But do you desire to know, empty ish, that trust without works is barren?
21
Was not Avraham our father shown righteous by works when he offered Yitzchaq his son upon the altar?
22
You see that trust was working together with his works, and through the works the trust was brought to completion.
23
And the writing was fulfilled which says: “Avraham trusted Elohim, and it was reckoned to him as Righteousness.” And he was called friend of Elohim.
24
You see, then, that an Adam is shown righteous by works and not by trust alone.
25
And likewise also, was not Rachav the prostitute shown righteous by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way?
26
For just as the body without ruach is dead, so also trust without works is dead.
