1
For every great kohen taken from among Adam is appointed on behalf of Adam in the things toward Elohim, so that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices concerning sins.
2
He is able to deal gently with the ignorant and those wandering, since he himself is also clothed with weakness.
3
And because of this, he is obligated to offer concerning sins just as for the people, so also for himself.
4
And no one takes this honor for himself, but only the one called by Elohim, just as Aharon also was.
5
So also the Anointed did not glorify himself to become great kohen, but the One who said to him: “You are My Son; today I have begotten you.”
6
Just as He says also in another place: “You are a kohen to the age according to the order of Malki-Tzedek.”
7
In the days of his flesh, he offered both petitions and supplications, with strong crying and tears, to the One able to deliver him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent fear.
8
Though he was a Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered.
9
And having been made complete, he became the source of everlasting deliverance to all who obey him,
10
having been designated by Elohim as great kohen according to the order of Malki-Tzedek.
11
Concerning him we have much to say, and it is difficult to explain, since you have become slow in hearing.
12
For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you again have need for someone to teach you the beginning elements of the sayings of Elohim, and you have become those needing milk and not solid food.
13
For everyone partaking of milk is inexperienced in the word of righteousness, for he is an infant.
14
But solid food belongs to the mature, those who through practice have their senses trained to discern both good and evil.
