1
Now the chief point of the things being spoken is this: we have such a great kohen, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens,
2
a servant of the set-apart place and of the true Dwelling, which Yahuah erected and not Adam.
3
For every great kohen is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore it is necessary that this one also have something to offer.
4
Now if he were upon earth in this service, he would not be a kohen, since there are those who offer the gifts according to Torah,
5
who serve a copy and shadow of heavenly things, just as Mosheh was divinely warned when about to complete the Dwelling: “For see,” He says, “that you make all things according to the pattern shown to you on the mountain.”
6
But now he has obtained a more excellent service, inasmuch as he is also mediator of a better covenant, which has been established upon better promises.
7
For if that first covenantal administration had been without deficiency, no place would have been sought for a second.
8
For finding fault with them, He says: “See— days are coming, says Yahuah, when I shall establish with the House of Yisra’el and with the House of Yehudah a renewed Covenant,
9
not according to the Covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to lead them out from the land of Mitsrayim, because they did not remain in My Covenant, and I disregarded them, says Yahuah.
10
For this is the Covenant which I shall establish with the House of Yisra’el after those days, says Yahuah: I shall place My Torah into their understanding, and upon their hearts I shall write it. And I shall be their Elohim, and they shall be My People.
11
And they shall certainly not teach each one his fellow citizen and each one his brother, saying: ‘Know Yahuah,’ because all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest.
12
For I shall be merciful toward their unrighteousness, and their sins I shall certainly remember no more.”
13
In saying “renewed,” He has made the first old. And what is becoming old and aging is near to disappearing.
