1
What, then, shall we say? Shall we remain in sin so that favor may increase?
2
Certainly not. We who died to sin—how shall we still live in it?
3
Or are you ignorant that all of us who were immersed into Yahushua the Mashiyach were immersed into his death?
4
Therefore we were buried with him through immersion into death, so that just as the Mashiyach was raised from the dead through the Father’s glory, so we also might walk in newness of life.
5
For if we have become joined with the likeness of his death, we will certainly also be joined with the resurrection,
6
knowing this: our old human being was impaled with him so that the body ruled by sin might be brought to nothing, that we should no longer be enslaved to sin.
7
For the one who died has been released from sin.
8
Now if we died with the Mashiyach, we trust that we will also live with him,
9
knowing that the Mashiyach, having been raised from the dead, dies no more; death no longer exercises mastery over him.
10
For the death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to Elohim.
11
So you also must calculate yourselves dead to sin but living to Elohim in Yahushua the Mashiyach.
12
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its desires.
13
Do not present the members of your body to sin as weapons of unrighteousness. Instead, present yourselves to Elohim as those alive from the dead, and your members to Elohim as weapons of righteousness.
14
For sin will not exercise mastery over you, because you are not under law but under favor.
15
What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under favor? Certainly not.
16
Do you not know that if you present yourselves to someone as enslaved servants for obedience, you are enslaved to the one you obey—whether sin leading to death or obedience leading to righteousness?
17
But thanks be to Elohim that, though you were enslaved to sin, you obeyed from the heart the pattern of teaching to which you were handed over.
18
Having been freed from sin, you became enslaved to righteousness.
19
I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as enslaved to uncleanness and lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as enslaved to righteousness leading to set-apartness.
20
For when you were enslaved to sin, you were free in relation to righteousness.
21
What fruit, then, did you have at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? For their end is death.
22
But now, having been freed from sin and enslaved to Elohim, you have your fruit leading to set-apartness, and the end is everlasting life.
23
For the wages of sin are death, but Elohim’s gift is everlasting life in Yahushua the Mashiyach, our Master.
