1
My children, I write these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an advocate with the Father: Yahushua the Anointed, the Righteous One.
2
He is the atoning means concerning our sins, and not concerning ours only, but also concerning the whole world.
3
And by this we know that we have come to know him: if we guard his commandments.
4
The one saying, “I know him,” while not guarding his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5
But whoever guards his Word, truly in this one the love of Elohim has been brought to completion. By this we know that we are in him.
6
The one saying that he remains in him is himself bound to walk just as that one walked.
7
Beloved ones, I am not writing a new commandment to you, but an old commandment that you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the Word you heard.
8
Yet I am writing a new commandment to you, which is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining.
9
The one saying that he is in the light while hating his brother is in darkness until now.
10
The one loving his brother remains in the light, and there is no cause of stumbling in him.
11
But the one hating his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness and does not know where he is going, because the darkness blinded his eyes.
12
I write to you, children, because your sins have been forgiven you because of his Name.
13
I write to you, fathers, because you have known the One who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I wrote to you, children, because you have known the Father.
14
I wrote to you, fathers, because you have known the One who is from the beginning. I wrote to you, young men, because you are strong, and the Word of Elohim remains in you, and you have overcome the evil one.
15
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16
For everything in the world—the desire of the flesh, the desire of the eyes, and the arrogance of possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world.
17
And the world is passing away, and its desire; but the one doing the will of Elohim remains to the age.
18
Children, it is the last hour. And just as you heard that an adversary of the Anointed is coming, even now many adversaries of the Anointed have arisen. From this we know that it is the last hour.
19
They went out from us, but they were not truly from us; for if they had been from us, they would have remained with us. But they went out so that it might be made clear that not all are from us.
20
And you have an anointing from the Set-Apart One, and all of you know.
21
I did not write to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is from the truth.
22
Who is the liar except the one denying that Yahushua is the Anointed? This is the adversary of the Anointed: the one denying the Father and the Son.
23
Everyone denying the Son does not have the Father either. The one confessing the Son has the Father also.
24
As for you, let what you heard from the beginning remain in you. If what you heard from the beginning remains in you, you also shall remain in the Son and in the Father.
25
And this is the promise that he promised us: everlasting life.
26
I wrote these things to you concerning those trying to deceive you.
27
And as for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you as though you had received nothing; but his anointing teaches you concerning all things, and it is true and is not a lie. Just as it taught you, remain in him.
28
And now, children, remain in him, so that whenever he is revealed we may have boldness and not shrink from him in shame at his coming.
29
If you know that he is righteous, you know also that everyone practicing righteousness has been born from him.
