1
Now concerning food sacrificed to idols: we know that “we all have knowledge.” Knowledge puffs up, but love builds.
2
If anyone thinks he knows something, he has not yet known as he ought to know.
3
But if anyone loves Elohim, this one is known by Him.
4
Therefore concerning the eating of food sacrificed to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no Elohim except One.
5
For even if there are those called elohim, whether in the heavens or upon the earth— as indeed there are many called elohim and many masters—
6
yet for us there is one Elohim, the Father, from whom are all things, and we for Him, and one Master, Yahushua the Anointed, through whom are all things, and we through him.
7
But this knowledge is not in everyone. For some, through former association with the idol, eat the food as something sacrificed to an idol, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.
8
But food shall not bring us nearer to Elohim. Neither if we do not eat are we lacking, nor if we eat do we abound.
9
But watch lest this authority of yours become a stumbling block to the weak.
10
For if anyone sees you, the one having knowledge, reclining in an idol’s temple, shall not the conscience of the weak one be strengthened toward eating food sacrificed to idols?
11
And by your knowledge the weak one is destroyed— the brother for whom the Anointed died.
12
And so, sinning against the brothers and striking their weak conscience, you sin against the Anointed.
13
Therefore if food causes my brother to stumble, I shall certainly never eat meat to the age, so that I may not cause my brother to stumble.
