Most excellent Diognetos, I see that you are deeply eager to understand the reverence practiced by those called Christians.
2
You ask what Elohim they trust, how they serve Him, and why they look beyond the present world and do not allow fear of death to rule them.
3
You ask why they refuse to reckon the images honored among the Hellenes as true elohim.
4
You also ask why they do not practice the worship of the Yehudim in the same manner as the Yehudim themselves.
5
You ask what kind of love they have toward one another.
6
And you ask why this people and this way of life have appeared now rather than earlier.
7
I gladly receive your desire to learn.
8
I ask the One who gives both speech and hearing to allow me to speak in a way that strengthens you, and to allow you to hear in a way that does not make my effort empty.
