1
Yahuah Shaddai, Eternal One, Master of the whole inhabited world, Creator and Overseer of everything:
2
You fashioned Adam as a small image of the ordered world and gave him rational understanding.
3
You gave him both implanted law and written Torah so that the rational creature might live according to justice.
4
When Adam sinned, You did not abandon him but gave Your goodness as a pledge leading toward repentance.
5
Look upon those who bend the neck of soul and body before You.
6
You do not desire the death of the sinner but that the sinner turn from the evil road and live.
7
You accepted the turning of Nineveh.
8
You desire that Adam come to knowledge of truth.
9
Receive now the changed mind and humbled heart of those who petition You.
10
No one lives without sin before You.
11
If You watched every lawless act without mercy, who could stand?
12
With You is forgiveness and the power to remove sin.
13
Restore those who turn; cleanse conscience, heal what was wounded, and establish them again in righteousness.
14
Let repentance become actual change in conduct, not speech without fruit.
C1

C2
The prayer may have been wholly Christian but shaped by Jewish scripture and Hellenistic Jewish anthropology; the layer distinction remains uncertain.
