1
Then Shəlomah assembled the elders of Yisra’el, and all the heads of the tribes, the chiefs of the fathers of the sons of Yisra’el, to King Shəlomah in Yerushalayim, to bring up the ark of the Covenant of Yahuah from the City of Daviyd, which is Tziyon.
2
And all the ish of Yisra’el assembled themselves to King Shəlomah at the feast in the month of Etanim, which is the seventh month.
3
And all the elders of Yisra’el came, and the kohenim lifted up the ark.
4
And they brought up the ark of Yahuah, and the Tent of Meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the Tent; and the kohenim and the Leviim brought them up.
5
And King Shəlomah, and all the assembly of Yisra’el who had assembled to him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and cattle that could not be counted or numbered for multitude.
6
And the kohenim brought the ark of the Covenant of Yahuah into its Place, into the Inner Sanctuary of the House, into the Most Holy Place, beneath the wings of the keruvim.
7
For the keruvim spread out their wings over the Place of the ark, and the keruvim covered the ark and its poles from above.
8
And the poles were long, so that the ends of the poles were seen from the Holy Place before the face of the Inner Sanctuary, but they were not seen outside. And they are there to this day.
9
There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets of stone that Mosheh placed there at Chorev, where Yahuah cut the Covenant with the sons of Yisra’el when they came out from the land of Mitzrayim.
10
And it came to pass, when the kohenim came out from the Holy Place, that the cloud filled the House of Yahuah.
11
And the kohenim were not able to stand to minister because of the cloud, for the Glory of Yahuah filled the House of Yahuah.
12
Then Shəlomah said: “Yahuah said that He would dwell in thick darkness.
13
Building, I have surely built for You a House of exaltation, an established Place for Your dwelling forever.”
14
And the king turned his face around and blessed all the assembly of Yisra’el, while all the assembly of Yisra’el stood.
15
And he said: “Blessed be Yahuah, Elohim of Yisra’el, who spoke with His mouth to Daviyd my father and with His hand fulfilled it, saying:
16
‘From the day I brought My people Yisra’el out from Mitzrayim, I did not choose a city from any of the tribes of Yisra’el to build a House, that My Name might be there. But I chose Daviyd to be over My people Yisra’el.’
17
And it was in the heart of Daviyd my father to build a House for the Name of Yahuah, Elohim of Yisra’el.
18
But Yahuah said to Daviyd my father: ‘Because it was in your heart to build a House for My Name, you did well that it was in your heart.
19
Nevertheless, you shall not build the House; but your son who comes out from your loins, he shall build the House for My Name.’
20
And Yahuah has established His Word that He spoke. And I have risen in place of Daviyd my father, and I sit upon the Throne of Yisra’el, according to what Yahuah spoke, and I have built the House for the Name of Yahuah, Elohim of Yisra’el.
21
And I have set there a Place for the ark, wherein is the Covenant of Yahuah that He cut with our fathers when He brought them out from the land of Mitzrayim.”
22
And Shəlomah stood before the altar of Yahuah, opposite all the assembly of Yisra’el, and spread out his palms toward the heavens.
23
And he said: “Yahuah, Elohim of Yisra’el, there is no Elohim like You in the heavens above or upon the earth beneath, guarding the Covenant and the Covenant-Faithfulness with Your servants who walk before Your face with all their heart;
24
You who have guarded for Your servant Daviyd my father what You spoke to him. And You spoke with Your mouth, and with Your hand You have fulfilled it, as it is this day.
25
And now, Yahuah, Elohim of Yisra’el, guard for Your servant Daviyd my father what You spoke to him, saying: ‘There shall not be cut off from you an ish before My face, sitting upon the Throne of Yisra’el, if only your sons guard their way, to walk before My face as you have walked before My face.’
26
And now, Elohim of Yisra’el, please let Your Word be confirmed, which You spoke to Your servant Daviyd my father.
27
But will Elohim truly dwell upon the earth? See, the heavens and the heavens of heavens cannot contain You—how much less this House that I have built!
28
Yet turn toward the prayer of Your servant and toward his supplication, Yahuah my Elohim, to hear the cry and the prayer that Your servant prays before Your face this day,
29
that Your eyes may be open toward this House night and day, toward the Place of which You said: ‘My Name shall be there’— to hear the prayer that Your servant prays toward this Place.
30
And hear the supplication of Your servant and of Your people Yisra’el when they pray toward this Place. And You Yourself hear in the Place of Your dwelling, in the heavens. And when You hear, forgive.
31
If an ish sins against his companion, and an oath is laid upon him to cause him to swear, and the oath comes before Your altar in this House,
32
then You Yourself hear in the heavens and act and judge Your servants: declaring the wicked guilty, returning his way upon his own head, and declaring the righteous righteous, giving to him according to his righteousness.
33
When Your people Yisra’el are struck before an enemy because they have sinned against You, and they return to You and confess Your Name, and pray and make supplication to You in this House,
34
then You Yourself hear in the heavens and forgive the sin of Your people Yisra’el, and return them to the land that You gave to their fathers.
35
When the heavens are restrained and there is no rain because they have sinned against You, and they pray toward this Place and confess Your Name, and turn from their sin because You afflict them,
36
then You Yourself hear in the heavens and forgive the sin of Your servants and of Your people Yisra’el, when You teach them the good way in which they should walk; and give rain upon Your land, which You gave to Your people for an Inheritance.
37
If there is famine in the land; if there is pestilence; if there is blight, mildew, locust, or devouring locust; if their enemy besieges them in the land of their gates; whatever plague, whatever sickness;
38
whatever prayer, whatever supplication is made by any Adam, by all Your people Yisra’el, each one knowing the plague of his own heart, and spreading out his palms toward this House,
39
then You Yourself hear in the heavens, the established Place of Your dwelling, and forgive and act, and give to every ish according to all his ways, whose heart You know—for You alone know the heart of all the sons of Adam—
40
so that they may fear You all the days that they live upon the face of the land that You gave to our fathers.
41
And also concerning the foreigner, who is not from Your people Yisra’el, but comes from a distant land for the sake of Your Name—
42
for they shall hear of Your great Name, and of Your strong hand, and of Your outstretched arm—and he comes and prays toward this House,
43
You Yourself hear in the heavens, the established Place of Your dwelling, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to You, so that all the peoples of the earth may know Your Name, to fear You as Your people Yisra’el do, and to know that Your Name is called upon this House that I have built.
44
When Your people go out to battle against their enemy by the way that You send them, and they pray to Yahuah toward the city that You have chosen and toward the House that I have built for Your Name,
45
then You Yourself hear in the heavens their prayer and their supplication, and do their Judgment.
46
When they sin against You—for there is no Adam who does not sin—and You become angry with them and give them before an enemy, and their captors carry them captive to the land of the enemy, distant or near;
47
and they return to their heart in the land where they were taken captive, and return and make supplication to You in the land of those who captured them, saying: ‘We have sinned, and we have acted crookedly; we have acted wickedly’;
48
and they return to You with all their heart and with all their being in the land of their enemies who carried them captive, and pray to You toward their land that You gave to their fathers, the city that You have chosen, and the House that I have built for Your Name,
49
then You Yourself hear in the heavens, the established Place of Your dwelling, their prayer and their supplication, and do their Judgment.
50
And forgive Your people who have sinned against You, and all their transgressions by which they transgressed against You, and give them compassion before those who captured them, that they may have compassion upon them.
51
For they are Your people and Your Inheritance, whom You brought out from Mitzrayim, from the midst of the iron furnace.
52
Let Your eyes be open toward the supplication of Your servant and toward the supplication of Your people Yisra’el, to hear them in all that they call to You.
53
For You separated them for Yourself as an Inheritance from all the peoples of the earth, as You spoke by the hand of Mosheh Your servant when You brought our fathers out from Mitzrayim, Adonai Yahuah.”
54
And it came to pass, when Shəlomah finished praying to Yahuah all this prayer and supplication, that he rose from before the altar of Yahuah, from kneeling upon his knees with his palms spread toward the heavens.
55
And he stood and blessed all the assembly of Yisra’el with a great voice, saying:
56
“Blessed be Yahuah, who has given rest to His people Yisra’el according to all that He spoke. Not one word has fallen from all His good Word that He spoke by the hand of Mosheh His servant.
57
May Yahuah our Elohim be with us as He was with our fathers. May He neither leave us nor forsake us,
58
to incline our hearts toward Himself, to walk in all His ways and to guard His commandments, and His statutes, and His Judgments, which He commanded our fathers.
59
And let these words of mine, with which I have made supplication before Yahuah, be near to Yahuah our Elohim day and night, that He may do the Judgment of His servant and the Judgment of His people Yisra’el, the matter of each day in its day,
60
so that all the peoples of the earth may know that Yahuah—He is Elohim; there is no other.
61
And let your heart be whole with Yahuah our Elohim, to walk in His statutes and to guard His commandments, as at this day.”
62
And the king and all Yisra’el with him sacrificed sacrifice before Yahuah.
63
And Shəlomah sacrificed the sacrifice of peace offerings that he sacrificed to Yahuah: twenty-two thousand cattle and one hundred twenty thousand sheep. And the king and all the sons of Yisra’el dedicated the House of Yahuah.
64
On that day the king set apart the middle of the court that was before the House of Yahuah, for there he caused the ascending offering, and the grain offering, and the fat of the peace offerings to go up, because the bronze altar that was before Yahuah was too small to contain the ascending offering, and the grain offering, and the fat of the peace offerings.
65
And Shəlomah made the feast at that time, and all Yisra’el with him, a great assembly, from the entrance of Chamat as far as the wadi of Mitzrayim, before Yahuah our Elohim, seven days and seven days—fourteen days.
66
On the eighth day he sent the people away, and they blessed the king and went to their tents rejoicing and good of heart because of all the good that Yahuah had done for Daviyd His servant and for Yisra’el His people.
