1
And in the eighteenth year of King Yarovam son of Nevat, Aviyam began to reign over Yehudah.
2
Three years he reigned in Yerushalayim. And the name of his mother was Maakhah daughter of Avishalom.
3
And he walked in all the sins of his father that he had done before his face, and his heart was not whole with Yahuah his Elohim, as the heart of Daviyd his father.
4
Nevertheless, for the sake of Daviyd, Yahuah his Elohim gave him a Lamp in Yerushalayim, to raise up his son after him and to establish Yerushalayim,
5
because Daviyd did what was upright in the eyes of Yahuah and did not turn aside from anything that He commanded him all the days of his life, except in the matter of Uriyah the Chitti.
6
And there was war between Rechavam and Yarovam all the days of his life.
7
And the rest of the matters of Aviyam, and all that he did, are they not written in the Sefer of the Matters of the Days of the Kings of Yehudah? And there was war between Aviyam and Yarovam.
8
And Aviyam lay down with his fathers, and they buried him in the City of Daviyd. And Asa his son reigned in his place.
9
And in the twentieth year of Yarovam king of Yisra’el, Asa began to reign over Yehudah.
10
And forty-one years he reigned in Yerushalayim. And the name of his mother was Maakhah daughter of Avishalom.
11
And Asa did what was upright in the eyes of Yahuah, as Daviyd his father.
12
And he caused the male cult prostitutes to pass away from the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.
13
And also Maakhah his mother, he removed from being queen mother, because she had made an abominable image for Asherah. And Asa cut down her abominable image and burned it beside the wadi Qidron.
14
But the high places were not removed. Nevertheless, the heart of Asa was whole with Yahuah all his days.
15
And he brought into the House of Yahuah the things set apart by his father and the things set apart by himself: silver, and gold, and vessels.
16
And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Yisra’el all their days.
17
And Baasha king of Yisra’el went up against Yehudah and built Ramah, so that he might not allow anyone to go out or come in to Asa king of Yehudah.
18
And Asa took all the silver and the gold that remained in the treasuries of the House of Yahuah and the treasuries of the house of the king and gave them into the hand of his servants. And King Asa sent them to Ben-Hadad son of Tavrimmon, son of Chezyon, king of Aram, who dwelt in Dammeseq, saying:
19
“There is a Covenant between me and you, between my father and your father. See, I have sent to you a gift of silver and gold. Go, break your Covenant with Baasha king of Yisra’el, that he may go up from upon me.”
20
And Ben-Hadad listened to King Asa and sent the commanders of the hosts that belonged to him against the cities of Yisra’el. And he struck Iyon, and Dan, and Avel-Beit-Maakhah, and all Kinnerot, with all the land of Naftali.
21
And it came to pass, when Baasha heard, that he ceased building Ramah and dwelt in Tirtzah.
22
And King Asa caused a proclamation to be heard throughout all Yehudah; none was exempt. And they carried away the stones of Ramah and its timber with which Baasha had been building. And King Asa built with them Geva of Binyamin and Mitzpah.
23
And the rest of all the matters of Asa, and all his strength, and all that he did, and the cities that he built, are they not written in the Sefer of the Matters of the Days of the Kings of Yehudah? Only, in the time of his old age he became diseased in his feet.
24
And Asa lay down with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the City of Daviyd his father. And Yehoshafat his son reigned in his place.
25
And Nadav son of Yarovam began to reign over Yisra’el in the second year of Asa king of Yehudah, and he reigned over Yisra’el two years.
26
And he did what was evil in the eyes of Yahuah and walked in the way of his father and in his sin by which he caused Yisra’el to sin.
27
And Baasha son of Achiyah, from the House of Yissakhar, conspired against him. And Baasha struck him at Gibbeton, which belonged to the Pelishtim, while Nadav and all Yisra’el were laying siege to Gibbeton.
28
And Baasha put him to death in the third year of Asa king of Yehudah and reigned in his place.
29
And it came to pass, when he began to reign, that he struck all the House of Yarovam. He did not leave to Yarovam anyone breathing until he had destroyed him, according to the Word of Yahuah that He spoke by the hand of His servant Achiyah the Shiloni,
30
because of the sins of Yarovam that he sinned and by which he caused Yisra’el to sin, because of his provocation with which he provoked Yahuah, Elohim of Yisra’el, to anger.
31
And the rest of the matters of Nadav, and all that he did, are they not written in the Sefer of the Matters of the Days of the Kings of Yisra’el?
32
And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Yisra’el all their days.
33
In the third year of Asa king of Yehudah, Baasha son of Achiyah began to reign over all Yisra’el in Tirtzah, twenty-four years.
34
And he did what was evil in the eyes of Yahuah and walked in the way of Yarovam and in his sin by which he caused Yisra’el to sin.
