1
And Moav rebelled against Yisra’el after the death of Achav.
2
And Achazyahu fell through the lattice of his upper room that was in Shomron and became sick. And he sent messengers and said to them: “Go, seek of Baal-Zevuv, elohim of Eqron, whether I shall live from this sickness.”
3
But the messenger of Yahuah said to Eliyahu the Tishbi: “Rise. Go up to meet the messengers of the king of Shomron, and speak to them: ‘Is it because there is no Elohim in Yisra’el that you are going to seek of Baal-Zevuv, elohim of Eqron?’
4
And now, thus says Yahuah: ‘From the bed upon which you have gone up, you shall not come down, for dying, you shall surely die.’” And Eliyahu went.
5
And the messengers returned to him. And he said to them: “Why is this that you have returned?”
6
And they said to him: “An ish came up to meet us and said to us: ‘Go, return to the king who sent you, and speak to him: “Thus says Yahuah: Is it because there is no Elohim in Yisra’el that you are sending to seek of Baal-Zevuv, elohim of Eqron? Therefore, from the bed upon which you have gone up, you shall not come down, for dying, you shall surely die.”’”
7
And he said to them: “What was the manner of the ish who came up to meet you and spoke these words to you?”
8
And they said to him: “He was an ish, master of hair, with a belt of leather girded around his loins.” And he said: “It is Eliyahu the Tishbi.”
9
And the king sent to him a commander of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him, and see, he was sitting upon the top of the mountain. And he spoke to him: “Ish of Elohim, the king has said, ‘Come down.’”
10
And Eliyahu answered and spoke to the commander of fifty: “If I am an ish of Elohim, let fire come down from the heavens and consume you and your fifty.” And fire came down from the heavens and consumed him and his fifty.
11
And again he sent to him another commander of fifty with his fifty. And he answered and spoke to him: “Ish of Elohim, thus says the king: ‘Quickly, come down.’”
12
And Eliyahu answered and spoke to them: “If I am an ish of Elohim, let fire come down from the heavens and consume you and your fifty.” And the fire of Elohim came down from the heavens and consumed him and his fifty.
13
And again he sent a third commander of fifty with his fifty. And the third commander of fifty went up and came and bowed upon his knees before Eliyahu. And he made supplication to him and spoke to him: “Ish of Elohim, please let my being and the being of these fifty servants of yours be precious in your eyes.
14
See, fire came down from the heavens and consumed the first two commanders of fifty and their fifties. And now, let my being be precious in your eyes.”
15
And the messenger of Yahuah said to Eliyahu: “Go down with him. Do not fear him.” And he rose and went down with him to the king.
16
And he spoke to him: “Thus says Yahuah: ‘Because you sent messengers to seek of Baal-Zevuv, elohim of Eqron—is it because there is no Elohim in Yisra’el to seek His Word? Therefore, from the bed upon which you have gone up, you shall not come down, for dying, you shall surely die.’”
17
And he died according to the Word of Yahuah that Eliyahu had spoken. And Yehoram reigned in his place, in the second year of Yehoram son of Yehoshafat, king of Yehudah, because he had no son.
18
And the rest of the matters of Achazyahu that he did, are they not written in the Sefer of the Matters of the Days of the Kings of Yisra’el?
