1
And it came to pass, when Yahuah was about to take Eliyahu up into the heavens by a whirlwind, that Eliyahu went with Elisha from Gilgal.
2
And Eliyahu said to Elisha: “Please remain here, for Yahuah has sent me as far as Beit-El.” And Elisha said: “As Yahuah lives, and as your being lives, I will not leave you.” And they went down to Beit-El.
3
And the sons of the prophets who were in Beit-El came out to Elisha and said to him: “Do you know that today Yahuah is taking your master from over your head?” And he said: “Yes, I know. Be silent.”
4
And Eliyahu said to him: “Elisha, please remain here, for Yahuah has sent me to Yericho.” And he said: “As Yahuah lives, and as your being lives, I will not leave you.” And they came to Yericho.
5
And the sons of the prophets who were in Yericho drew near to Elisha and said to him: “Do you know that today Yahuah is taking your master from over your head?” And he said: “Yes, I know. Be silent.”
6
And Eliyahu said to him: “Please remain here, for Yahuah has sent me to the Yarden.” And he said: “As Yahuah lives, and as your being lives, I will not leave you.” And the two of them walked on.
7
And fifty ish from the sons of the prophets went and stood opposite them at a distance. And the two of them stood beside the Yarden.
8
And Eliyahu took his mantle and rolled it together and struck the waters. And they were divided to this side and to that side, and the two of them crossed over on dry ground.
9
And it came to pass, when they had crossed over, that Eliyahu said to Elisha: “Ask what I shall do for you before I am taken from with you.” And Elisha said: “Please let a double portion of your ruach be upon me.”
10
And he said: “You have asked a difficult thing. If you see me when I am taken from with you, it shall be so for you. But if not, it shall not be.”
11
And it came to pass, as they were walking, going and speaking, that see, a chariot of fire and horses of fire separated between the two of them. And Eliyahu went up by a whirlwind into the heavens.
12
And Elisha saw and cried out: “My father! My father! The chariot of Yisra’el and its horsemen!” And he saw him no more. And he took hold of his garments and tore them into two pieces.
13
And he lifted up the mantle of Eliyahu that had fallen from upon him, and returned and stood upon the bank of the Yarden.
14
And he took the mantle of Eliyahu that had fallen from upon him and struck the waters and said: “Where is Yahuah, Elohim of Eliyahu—He Himself?” And he struck the waters, and they were divided to this side and to that side. And Elisha crossed over.
15
And the sons of the prophets who were at Yericho opposite him saw him and said: “The ruach of Eliyahu rests upon Elisha.” And they came to meet him and bowed themselves to the earth before him.
16
And they said to him: “See now, there are with your servants fifty sons of strength. Please let them go and seek your master, lest the Ruach of Yahuah have lifted him up and cast him upon one of the mountains or into one of the valleys.” And he said: “You shall not send.”
17
But they pressed him until he was ashamed, and he said: “Send.” And they sent fifty ish, and they sought three days but did not find him.
18
And they returned to him while he remained in Yericho. And he said to them: “Did I not say to you, ‘Do not go’?”
19
And the men of the city said to Elisha: “See now, the dwelling of the city is good, as my master sees, but the waters are evil and the land causes miscarriage.”
20
And he said: “Take for me a new bowl and place salt in it.” And they took it to him.
21
And he went out to the spring of the waters and cast the salt there and said: “Thus says Yahuah: ‘I have healed these waters. There shall no longer be from there death or miscarriage.’”
22
And the waters were healed to this day, according to the Word of Elisha that he spoke.
23
And he went up from there to Beit-El. And as he was going up by the way, young boys came out from the city and mocked him and said to him: “Go up, bald one! Go up, bald one!”
24
And he turned behind him and saw them and cursed them in the Name of Yahuah. And two she-bears came out from the forest and tore forty-two children from them.
25
And he went from there to Mount Karmel, and from there he returned to Shomron.
