1
And Naaman, commander of the host of the king of Aram, was a great ish before his master and lifted of face, because by him Yahuah had given salvation to Aram. And the ish was a mighty son of strength, but he had tzara’at.
2
And Aram had gone out in raiding bands and had taken captive from the land of Yisra’el a young girl, and she came to be before the ishah of Naaman.
3
And she said to her mistress: “If only my master were before the prophet who is in Shomron, then he would gather him from his tzara’at.”
4
And he went and declared to his master, saying: “Thus and thus spoke the young girl who is from the land of Yisra’el.”
5
And the king of Aram said: “Go, enter, and I will send a sefer to the king of Yisra’el.” And he went and took in his hand ten talents of silver, and six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of garments.
6
And he brought the sefer to the king of Yisra’el, saying: “And now, when this sefer comes to you, see, I have sent to you Naaman my servant, that you may gather him from his tzara’at.”
7
And it came to pass, when the king of Yisra’el read the sefer, that he tore his garments and said: “Am I Elohim, to put to death and to make alive, that this one sends to me to gather an ish from his tzara’at? But surely know, please, and see that he is seeking an occasion against me.”
8
And it came to pass, when Elisha the ish of Elohim heard that the king of Yisra’el had torn his garments, that he sent to the king, saying: “Why have you torn your garments? Please let him come to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Yisra’el.”
9
And Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot and stood at the entrance of the house of Elisha.
10
And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying: “Go and wash in the Yarden seven times, and your flesh shall return to you, and you shall be clean.”
11
But Naaman became angry and went away and said: “See, I said to myself: ‘Going out, he will surely come out to me and stand and call in the Name of Yahuah his Elohim, and wave his hand toward the place and gather the tzara’at.’
12
Are not Amanah and Parpar, rivers of Dammeseq, better than all the waters of Yisra’el? Could I not wash in them and be clean?” And he turned and went away in rage.
13
And his servants drew near and spoke to him and said: “My father, if the prophet had spoken to you a great thing, would you not have done it? How much more, when he has said to you: ‘Wash, and be clean’?”
14
And he went down and dipped himself in the Yarden seven times, according to the Word of the ish of Elohim. And his flesh returned like the flesh of a little boy, and he was clean.
15
And he returned to the ish of Elohim, he and all his camp, and came and stood before his face. And he said: “See now, I know that there is no Elohim in all the earth except in Yisra’el. And now, please take a blessing from your servant.”
16
But he said: “As Yahuah lives, before whose face I stand, I will not take.” And he pressed him to take, but he refused.
17
And Naaman said: “If not, please let there be given to your servant the burden of a pair of mules of earth, for your servant will no longer make ascending offering or sacrifice to other elohim, but to Yahuah.
18
In this matter may Yahuah forgive your servant: When my master enters the house of Rimmon to bow himself there, and he leans upon my hand, and I bow myself in the house of Rimmon—when I bow myself in the house of Rimmon, please may Yahuah forgive your servant in this matter.”
19
And he said to him: “Go in shalom.” And he went from him a short distance.
20
And Geichazi, young man of Elisha the ish of Elohim, said: “See, my master has spared Naaman this Arami by not taking from his hand what he brought. As Yahuah lives, I will run after him and take something from him.”
21
And Geichazi pursued after Naaman. And Naaman saw him running after him and came down from the chariot to meet him and said: “Is there shalom?”
22
And he said: “Shalom. My master sent me, saying: ‘See, just now there have come to me from the hill country of Efrayim two young men from the sons of the prophets. Please give them one talent of silver and two changes of garments.’”
23
And Naaman said: “Be willing, take two talents.” And he pressed him and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and gave them to two of his young men, and they carried them before his face.
24
And when he came to the hill, he took them from their hand and deposited them in the house, and sent the men away, and they went.
25
And he entered and stood before his master. And Elisha said to him: “From where, Geichazi?” And he said: “Your servant did not go here or there.”
26
And he said to him: “Did not my heart go when the ish turned from upon his chariot to meet you? Is it a time to take silver, and to take garments, and olive groves, and vineyards, and sheep, and cattle, and male servants, and female servants?
27
And the tzara’at of Naaman shall cling to you and to your seed forever.” And he went out from before his face with tzara’at, like snow.
