1
And he made houses for himself in the City of Daviyd, prepared a place for the Ark of Elohim, and stretched out a tent for it.
2
Then Daviyd said, “None shall bear the Ark of Elohim except the Leviyim, for Yahuah chose them to bear the Ark of Yahuah and to minister to Him forever.”
3
And Daviyd assembled all Yisra’el at Yerushalayim to bring up the Ark of Yahuah to its place that he had prepared for it.
4
Daviyd gathered the sons of Aharon and the Leviyim:
5
from the sons of Qehat, Uri’el the commander and one hundred twenty of his brothers;
6
from the sons of Merari, Asayah the commander and two hundred twenty of his brothers;
7
from the sons of Gershom, Yoel the commander and one hundred thirty of his brothers;
8
from the sons of Elitzafan, Shemayah the commander and two hundred of his brothers;
9
from the sons of Chevron, Eli’el the commander and eighty of his brothers;
10
from the sons of Uzzi’el, Amminadav the commander and one hundred twelve of his brothers.
11
Daviyd called Tzadoq and Evyatar the Kohenim, and the Leviyim Uri’el, Asayah, Yoel, Shemayah, Eli’el, and Amminadav.
12
And he said to them, “You are the heads of the father-houses of the Leviyim. Set yourselves apart, you and your brothers, and bring up the Ark of Yahuah Elohim of Yisra’el to the place I prepared for it.
13
Because you were not there at the first, Yahuah our Elohim broke forth against us, for we did not seek Him according to the ordinance.”
14
So the Kohenim and Leviyim set themselves apart to bring up the Ark of Yahuah Elohim of Yisra’el.
15
The sons of Levi bore the Ark of Elohim upon their shoulders with the poles upon them, as Mosheh commanded according to the Word of Yahuah.
16
Daviyd told the commanders of the Leviyim to appoint their brothers, the singers, with instruments of song—harps, lyres, and cymbals—sounding and lifting the voice with rejoicing.
17
The Leviyim appointed Heyman son of Yoel; from his brothers, Asaf son of Berekhiyahu; and from the sons of Merari their brothers, Eytan son of Qushayahu.
18
With them were their brothers of the second rank: Zekharyahu, Ben, Yaazi’el, Shemiramot, Yechi’el, Unni, Eliav, Benayahu, Maaseyahu, Mattityahu, Eliflehu, Miqneyahu, Oved-Edom, and Yei’el the gatekeepers.
19
The singers Heyman, Asaf, and Eytan were to sound bronze cymbals.
20
Zekharyah, Azi’el, Shemiramot, Yechi’el, Unni, Eliav, Maaseyahu, and Benayahu were upon harps according to Alamot.
21
Mattityahu, Eliflehu, Miqneyahu, Oved-Edom, Yei’el, and Azazyahu were upon lyres according to the Sheminit, to lead.
22
Kenanyahu, commander of the Leviyim in bearing, instructed in the bearing because he understood it.
23
Berekhiyah and Elqanah were gatekeepers for the Ark.
24
Shevanyahu, Yoshafat, Netan’el, Amasai, Zekharyahu, Benayahu, and Eliezer, the Kohenim, sounded the trumpets before the Ark of Elohim; and Oved-Edom and Yechiyah were gatekeepers for the Ark.
25
So Daviyd, the elders of Yisra’el, and the commanders of thousands went to bring up the Ark of the Covenant of Yahuah from the House of Oved-Edom with rejoicing.
26
And when Elohim helped the Leviyim who bore the Ark of the Covenant of Yahuah, they slaughtered seven bulls and seven rams.
27
Daviyd was wrapped in a robe of fine linen, as were all the Leviyim bearing the Ark, the singers, and Kenanyahu, commander of the bearing and the singers; and upon Daviyd was a linen shoulder garment.
28
And all Yisra’el brought up the Ark of the Covenant of Yahuah with a shout, with the sound of the shofar, with trumpets and cymbals, sounding with harps and lyres.
29
And as the Ark of the Covenant of Yahuah came as far as the City of Daviyd, Mikhal daughter of Shaul looked through the window and saw King Daviyd dancing and rejoicing; and she despised him in her heart.
