1
Blessed is the ish who does not slip with his mouth and is not pierced by grief over sins.
2
Blessed is one whose being does not condemn him and who has not fallen from his hope.
3
Wealth is not fitting for a narrowhearted ish, and of what use is property to an envious Adam?
4
One who gathers by depriving his own being gathers for others, and foreigners shall delight in his good things.
5
One evil toward himself—to whom shall he be good? He shall not rejoice in his own wealth.
6
None is more evil than one who envies himself; this is the repayment of his evil.
7
Even if he works good, he does it unknowingly, and at the end he reveals his evil.
8
Evil is the one with an envious eye, turning away his face and disregarding beings.
9
The eye of the greedy is not satisfied with a portion, and evil unrighteousness dries up the being.
10
An evil eye is envious over bread, and scarcity is upon his table.
11
My son, according to what you possess, work good for yourself, and bring offerings worthily to Yahuah.
12
Remember that death does not delay, and the covenant of Sheol has not been shown to you.
13
Before you reach completion, work good for a companion; according to your strength, extend your hand and give to him.
14
Do not deprive yourself of a good day, and do not let a portion of good desire pass you by.
15
Shall you not leave your labors to another and your toil for division by lot?
16
Give and receive, and bring delight to your being, for there is no seeking delight in Sheol.
17
All flesh grows old like a garment, for the covenant from the age is: dying, you shall die.
18
Like flourishing leaves upon a thick tree— some it casts down and others it brings forth— so is a generation of flesh and blood: one reaches completion and another is born.
19
Every work subject to decay passes away, and the one who works it departs with it.
20
Blessed is the ish who meditates in wisdom and speaks through his understanding;
21
who considers her Ways within his heart and reasons upon her hidden things.
22
Go out after her like a tracker and lie in wait upon her Ways.
23
Peer through her windows and listen at her doorways.
24
Lodge close beside her house and drive your tent peg into her walls.
25
Establish your tent beside her hand and lodge in a dwelling of good things.
26
Place your children beneath her covering and lodge beneath her branches.
27
By her you shall be covered from heat, and within her honor you shall lodge.
