1
And it came to pass after these things that the cupbearer of the king of Mitzrayim and the baker sinned against their adon, the king of Mitzrayim.
2
And Pharaoh became angry with his two officers, with the chief of the cupbearers and with the chief of the bakers.
3
And he placed them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, in the house of confinement, the place where Yosef was confined.
4
And the captain of the guard appointed Yosef with them, and he served them. And they were in custody for days.
5
And the two of them dreamed a dream, each one his own dream, in one night, each one according to the interpretation of his dream—the cupbearer and the baker of the king of Mitzrayim, who were confined in the house of confinement.
6
And Yosef came to them in the morning and saw them, and see: they were troubled.
7
And he asked the officers of Pharaoh who were with him in the custody of the house of his adon, saying, “Why are your faces troubled today?”
8
And they said to him, “We have dreamed a dream, and there is no one to interpret it.” And Yosef said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to Elohim? Please recount them to me.”
9
And the chief of the cupbearers recounted his dream to Yosef and said to him, “In my dream, see: a vine was before me.
10
And on the vine were three branches. And as it budded, its blossoms came up, and its clusters ripened into grapes.
11
And the cup of Pharaoh was in my hand. And I took the grapes and pressed them into the cup of Pharaoh, and I gave the cup into the hand of Pharaoh.”
12
And Yosef said to him, “This is its interpretation: the three branches are three days.
13
Within three days Pharaoh will lift your head and restore you to your position, and you shall give the cup of Pharaoh into his hand according to the former manner, when you were his cupbearer.
14
But remember me with yourself when it goes well with you, and please show covenant-faithfulness to me, and make mention of me to Pharaoh, and bring me out from this house.
15
For stolen, I was stolen from the land of the Ivrim; and here also I have done nothing that they should place me in this pit.”
16
And the chief of the bakers saw that the interpretation was good, and he said to Yosef, “I also was in my dream, and see: three baskets of white bread were upon my head.
17
And in the uppermost basket were all kinds of baked food for Pharaoh, the work of a baker, and the flying creatures were eating them from the basket upon my head.”
18
And Yosef answered and said, “This is its interpretation: the three baskets are three days.
19
Within three days Pharaoh will lift your head from upon you and hang you upon a tree, and the flying creatures will eat your flesh from upon you.”
20
And it came to pass on the third day, the day of the birth of Pharaoh, that he made a feast for all his servants. And he lifted the head of the chief of the cupbearers and the head of the chief of the bakers among his servants.
21
And he restored the chief of the cupbearers to his cupbearing, and he placed the cup into the hand of Pharaoh.
22
But the chief of the bakers he hanged, according to what Yosef had interpreted to them.
23
And the chief of the cupbearers did not remember Yosef, but forgot him.
