1
And Yahuah spoke to Mosheh, saying,
2
“Speak to Aharon and say to him: When you cause the lamps to go up, the seven lamps shall give light toward the face of the menorah.”
3
And Aharon did so. Toward the face of the menorah he caused its lamps to go up, according to what Yahuah had commanded Mosheh.
4
And this was the work of the menorah: hammered work of gold, from its base to its blossom, it was hammered work. According to the pattern that Yahuah had shown Mosheh, so he made the menorah.
5
And Yahuah spoke to Mosheh, saying,
6
“Take the Leviim from the midst of the sons of Yisra’el and cleanse them.
7
And thus you shall do to them to cleanse them: sprinkle upon them water of purification, and let them pass a razor over all their flesh, and let them wash their garments and cleanse themselves.
8
And they shall take a young bull, with its grain offering of fine flour mixed with oil, and a second young bull you shall take as a sin offering.
9
And you shall bring the Leviim near before the Tent of Meeting, and you shall gather all the congregation of the sons of Yisra’el.
10
And you shall bring the Leviim near before Yahuah, and the sons of Yisra’el shall lay their hands upon the Leviim.
11
And Aharon shall wave the Leviim as a wave offering before Yahuah from the sons of Yisra’el, that they may serve the service of Yahuah.
12
And the Leviim shall lay their hands upon the heads of the bulls. And you shall prepare the one as a sin offering and the other as an ascending offering to Yahuah, to make atonement for the Leviim.
13
And you shall cause the Leviim to stand before Aharon and before his sons, and wave them as a wave offering to Yahuah.
14
And you shall separate the Leviim from the midst of the sons of Yisra’el, and the Leviim shall be Mine.
15
And afterward the Leviim shall come in to serve the Tent of Meeting. And you shall cleanse them and wave them as a wave offering.
16
For given, given they are to Me from the midst of the sons of Yisra’el. In place of every one who opens the womb, every firstborn from the sons of Yisra’el, I have taken them for Myself.
17
For every firstborn among the sons of Yisra’el is Mine, from Adam to beast. On the day I struck every firstborn in the land of Mitzrayim, I set them apart for Myself.
18
And I have taken the Leviim in place of every firstborn among the sons of Yisra’el.
19
And I have given the Leviim as given ones to Aharon and to his sons from the midst of the sons of Yisra’el, to serve the service of the sons of Yisra’el in the Tent of Meeting and to make atonement for the sons of Yisra’el, so that there shall be no plague among the sons of Yisra’el when the sons of Yisra’el draw near to the Holy Place.”
20
And Mosheh and Aharon and all the congregation of the sons of Yisra’el did to the Leviim according to all that Yahuah had commanded Mosheh concerning the Leviim; so the sons of Yisra’el did to them.
21
And the Leviim purified themselves and washed their garments, and Aharon waved them as a wave offering before Yahuah, and Aharon made atonement for them to cleanse them.
22
And afterward the Leviim came in to serve their service in the Tent of Meeting before Aharon and before his sons. According to what Yahuah had commanded Mosheh concerning the Leviim, so they did to them.
23
And Yahuah spoke to Mosheh, saying,
24
“This is what belongs to the Leviim: from twenty-five years old and above, he shall enter to serve in the host in the service of the Tent of Meeting.
25
And from fifty years old he shall return from the host of the service and shall serve no longer.
26
But he may minister with his brothers in the Tent of Meeting, to guard the charge, though service he shall not perform. Thus you shall do concerning the Leviim in their charges.”
