1
“At the end of every seven years you shall make a release.
2
And this is the matter of the release: every creditor who has lent to his neighbor shall release what he has lent. He shall not press his neighbor or his brother, because a release to Yahuah has been proclaimed.
3
A foreigner you may press, but whatever of yours is with your brother your hand shall release.
4
Nevertheless, there shall be no poor among you, for blessing, Yahuah will surely bless you in the land that Yahuah your Elohim is giving you as an inheritance to possess,
5
if listening, you surely listen to the voice of Yahuah your Elohim, to guard to do all this commandment that I command you today.
6
For Yahuah your Elohim will bless you according to what He spoke to you, and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow; and you shall rule over many nations, but they shall not rule over you.
7
If there is among you a poor one, one of your brothers, within one of your gates in your land that Yahuah your Elohim is giving you, you shall not harden your heart, and you shall not shut your hand from your poor brother.
8
But opening, you shall surely open your hand to him, and lending, you shall surely lend him enough for his need, whatever he lacks.
9
Guard yourself, lest there be a worthless word in your heart, saying, ‘The seventh year, the year of release, is near,’ and your eye becomes evil against your poor brother, and you give him nothing, and he cries out against you to Yahuah, and sin is upon you.
10
Giving, you shall surely give to him, and your heart shall not be grieved when you give to him, because for this matter Yahuah your Elohim will bless you in all your work and in all to which you put your hand.
11
For the poor will not cease from the midst of the land. Therefore I command you, saying, ‘Opening, you shall surely open your hand to your brother, to your poor and to your needy in your land.’
12
If your brother, an Ivri or an Ivrit, is sold to you, and serves you six years, then in the seventh year you shall send him free from you.
13
And when you send him free from you, you shall not send him away empty.
14
Providing, you shall surely provide for him from your flock, and from your threshing floor, and from your winepress. From that with which Yahuah your Elohim has blessed you, you shall give to him.
15
And you shall remember that you were a servant in the land of Mitzrayim, and Yahuah your Elohim redeemed you. Therefore I command you this word today.
16
And it shall be, if he says to you, ‘I will not go out from you,’ because he loves you and your house, because it is good for him with you,
17
then you shall take the awl and put it through his ear into the door, and he shall be your servant forever. And also to your female servant you shall do likewise.
18
It shall not be hard in your eyes when you send him free from you, for he has served you six years worth twice the wages of a hired servant. And Yahuah your Elohim will bless you in all that you do.
19
Every firstborn male that is born among your herd and among your flock you shall set apart to Yahuah your Elohim. You shall do no work with the firstborn of your ox, and you shall not shear the firstborn of your flock.
20
Before Yahuah your Elohim you shall eat it year by year, in the place that Yahuah chooses, you and your household.
21
But if there is a defect in it—lameness, or blindness, any evil defect—you shall not sacrifice it to Yahuah your Elohim.
22
Within your gates you may eat it. The unclean and the clean alike may eat it, as the gazelle and as the deer.
23
Only its blood you shall not eat. Upon the earth you shall pour it out like water.”
