1
These are the words of the covenant that Yahuah commanded Mosheh to cut with the sons of Yisra’el in the land of Moav, besides the covenant that He cut with them at Chorev.
2
And Mosheh called to all Yisra’el and said to them, “You have seen all that Yahuah did before your eyes in the land of Mitzrayim, to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land—
3
the great trials that your eyes saw, the signs, and those great wonders.
4
But Yahuah has not given you a heart to know, or eyes to see, or ears to hear, even to this day.
5
And I caused you to walk forty years in the wilderness. Your garments did not wear out upon you, and your sandal did not wear out upon your foot.
6
Bread you did not eat, and wine or strong drink you did not drink, so that you might know that I am Yahuah your Elohim.
7
And you came to this place, and Sichon king of Cheshbon and Og king of Bashan came out to meet us for battle, and we struck them.
8
And we took their land and gave it as an inheritance to the Reuveni, and to the Gadi, and to half the tribe of the Menashi.
9
And you shall guard the words of this covenant and do them, so that you may act wisely in all that you do.
10
You stand today, all of you, before Yahuah your Elohim: your heads, your tribes, your elders, and your officers, every ish of Yisra’el,
11
your little ones, your wives, and your sojourner who is in the midst of your camp, from the cutter of your wood to the drawer of your water,
12
that you may enter into the covenant of Yahuah your Elohim and into His oath, which Yahuah your Elohim is cutting with you today,
13
in order to establish you today as a people for Himself, and that He may be your Elohim, according to what He spoke to you and according to what He swore to your fathers, to Avraham, to Yitzchaq, and to Yaaqov.
14
And not with you alone am I cutting this covenant and this oath,
15
but with the one who stands here with us today before Yahuah our Elohim, and with the one who is not here with us today.
16
For you know how we dwelt in the land of Mitzrayim and how we passed through the midst of the nations through which you passed,
17
and you saw their abominations and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them.
18
Lest there be among you an ish or an ishah, or a family or a tribe, whose heart turns away today from Yahuah our Elohim to go serve the elohim of those nations; lest there be among you a root bearing poison and wormwood.
19
And it shall be, when he hears the words of this oath, that he blesses himself in his heart, saying, ‘Peace shall be mine, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart,’ to add the saturated to the thirsty.
20
Yahuah will not be willing to forgive him. Rather, the anger of Yahuah and His jealousy will smoke against that ish, and every curse written in this sefer will settle upon him, and Yahuah will wipe out his name from beneath the heavens.
21
And Yahuah will separate him for evil from all the tribes of Yisra’el, according to all the curses of the covenant written in this sefer of the Torah.
22
And the generation to come, your sons who rise after you, and the foreigner who comes from a distant land, shall say when they see the plagues of that land and its sicknesses with which Yahuah has made it sick—
23
all its land sulfur and salt and burning, not sown, not producing, and no grass rising in it, like the overthrow of Sedom and Amorah, Admah and Tzevoyim, which Yahuah overthrew in His anger and in His wrath—
24
then all the nations shall say, ‘Why has Yahuah done thus to this land? What is the heat of this great anger?’
25
And they shall say, ‘Because they forsook the covenant of Yahuah, Elohim of their fathers, which He cut with them when He brought them out from the land of Mitzrayim,
26
and they went and served other elohim and bowed themselves to them, elohim whom they had not known and whom He had not apportioned to them.
27
And the anger of Yahuah burned against that land, to bring upon it every curse written in this sefer.
28
And Yahuah uprooted them from upon their ground in anger, and in wrath, and in great fury, and cast them into another land, as at this day.’
29
The hidden things belong to Yahuah our Elohim, but the revealed things belong to us and to our sons forever, that we may do all the words of this Torah.”
