1
“Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak; and let the earth hear the words of my mouth.
2
My teaching shall drop as the rain, my word shall distill as the dew, as showers upon the tender grass, and as abundant rain upon the herb.
3
For I will proclaim the name of Yahuah; give greatness to our Elohim.
4
The Rock—whole is His work, for all His ways are judgment. An El of faithfulness and without injustice; righteous and upright is He.
5
They have corrupted themselves toward Him; their blemish is not His sons. A twisted and crooked generation.
6
Is this how you repay Yahuah, O foolish and unwise people? Is He not your Father who acquired you? He made you and established you.
7
Remember the days of old; understand the years of generation and generation. Ask your father, and he will declare it to you; your elders, and they will say it to you.
8
When Elyon gave the nations their inheritance, when He separated the sons of Adam, He set the borders of the peoples according to the number of the sons of Yisra’el.
9
For the portion of Yahuah is His people; Yaaqov is the measured portion of His inheritance.
10
He found him in a wilderness land, and in the waste, the howling of a desolation. He surrounded him, He instructed him, He guarded him as the pupil of His eye.
11
As an eagle awakens its nest, hovering over its young, spreading its wings, taking them, carrying them upon its pinions,
12
Yahuah alone led him, and there was no foreign el with him.
13
He caused him to ride upon the high places of the earth, and he ate the produce of the field. And He caused him to suck honey from the rock, and oil from the flint rock;
14
curds of cattle and milk of flock, with fat of lambs, and rams, sons of Bashan, and male goats, with the finest fat of wheat; and the blood of grapes you drank as wine.
15
But Yeshurun grew fat and kicked. You grew fat, you grew thick, you became covered with fat. And he forsook Elohim who made him, and treated the Rock of his salvation as foolish.
16
They provoked Him to jealousy with foreign ones; with abominations they provoked Him to anger.
17
They sacrificed to shedim, not Elohim, to elohim whom they had not known, new ones that came from near, whom your fathers did not fear.
18
The Rock who fathered you, you neglected, and you forgot El who brought you forth.
19
And Yahuah saw and rejected them, because of the provocation of His sons and His daughters.
20
And He said, ‘I will hide My face from them; I will see what their latter end shall be. For they are a generation of overturnings, sons in whom there is no faithfulness.
21
They have made Me jealous with what is not El; they have provoked Me to anger with their vanities. And I will make them jealous with what is not a people; with a foolish nation I will provoke them to anger.
22
For a fire has been kindled in My anger, and it burns to the depths of Sheol; it consumes the earth and its produce and sets on fire the foundations of the mountains.
23
I will heap evils upon them; My arrows I will consume against them.
24
Wasted by hunger, consumed by burning heat, and bitter destruction. And I will send against them the teeth of beasts, with the venom of those crawling in the dust.
25
Outside the sword shall bereave, and inside, terror— both young man and virgin, the nursing child with the gray-haired ish.
26
I said, “I will scatter them; I will cause their remembrance to cease from among Adam,”
27
were it not that I feared the provocation of the enemy, lest their adversaries misunderstand, lest they say, “Our hand is high, and Yahuah has not done all this.”
28
For they are a nation void of counsel, and there is no understanding in them.
29
If only they were wise, they would understand this; they would discern their latter end.
30
How could one pursue a thousand, and two cause ten thousand to flee, unless their Rock had sold them, and Yahuah had shut them up?
31
For their rock is not like our Rock, even our enemies being judges.
32
For their vine is from the vine of Sedom and from the fields of Amorah. Their grapes are grapes of poison; bitter clusters are theirs.
33
Their wine is the venom of serpents and the cruel poison of cobras.
34
Is this not stored up with Me, sealed in My treasuries?
35
Vengeance is Mine, and repayment, for the time when their foot slips. For the day of their calamity is near, and what is prepared for them hastens.
36
For Yahuah will judge His people, and concerning His servants He will relent, when He sees that strength is gone and there is none restrained or remaining.
37
And He will say, ‘Where are their elohim, the rock in whom they sought refuge,
38
who ate the fat of their sacrifices and drank the wine of their drink offerings? Let them rise and help you; let them be a covering over you.
39
See now that I—I am He, and there is no elohim with Me. I put to death, and I make alive; I strike, and I heal; and there is none who delivers from My hand.
40
For I lift My hand to the heavens, and I say: As I live forever,
41
if I sharpen My flashing sword and My hand takes hold of judgment, I will return vengeance upon My adversaries and repay those who hate Me.
42
I will make My arrows drunk with blood, and My sword shall eat flesh— with the blood of the slain and the captives, from the head of the leaders of the enemy.’
43
Rejoice, O nations, with His people, for He will avenge the blood of His servants; He will return vengeance upon His adversaries and make atonement for His land, for His people.”
44
And Mosheh came and spoke all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he and Hoshea son of Nun.
45
And Mosheh finished speaking all these words to all Yisra’el.
46
And he said to them, “Place your heart upon all the words that I testify among you today, which you shall command your sons to guard to do—all the words of this Torah.
47
For it is not an empty word for you, for it is your life, and by this word you shall prolong your days upon the ground into which you are crossing the Yarden to possess.”
48
And Yahuah spoke to Mosheh on that same day, saying,
49
“Go up into this mountain of Avarim, Mount Nevo, which is in the land of Moav, which is opposite Yericho, and see the land of Kena’an that I am giving to the sons of Yisra’el as a possession.
50
And die on the mountain to which you are going up, and be gathered to your people, as Aharon your brother died on Mount Hor and was gathered to his people,
51
because you acted unfaithfully against Me in the midst of the sons of Yisra’el at the waters of Merivat-Qadesh, in the wilderness of Tzin, because you did not set Me apart in the midst of the sons of Yisra’el.
52
For from opposite you shall see the land, but there you shall not enter, into the land that I am giving to the sons of Yisra’el.”
