1
The Word that came to Yirmeyahu from Yahuah, saying,
2
“Hear the Words of this Covenant, and speak to the ish of Yehudah and to the inhabitants of Yerushalayim.
3
And you shall say to them, ‘Thus says Yahuah, Elohim of Yisra’el: Cursed is the ish who does not hear the Words of this Covenant,
4
which I commanded your fathers in the day I brought them out from the land of Mitzrayim, from the iron furnace, saying, “Hear My voice, and do these according to all that I command you. Then you shall be My people, and I shall be your Elohim,”
5
in order to establish the oath that I swore to your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day.’” Then I answered and said, “Amen, Yahuah.”
6
And Yahuah said to me, “Call all these Words in the cities of Yehudah and in the streets of Yerushalayim, saying, ‘Hear the Words of this Covenant and do them.’
7
For testifying, I testified to your fathers in the day I brought them up from the land of Mitzrayim even to this day, rising early and testifying, saying, ‘Hear My voice.’
8
Yet they did not hear or incline their ear, but each ish walked in the stubbornness of his evil heart. Therefore I brought upon them all the Words of this Covenant, which I commanded them to do, but they did not do.”
9
And Yahuah said to me, “A conspiracy has been found among the ish of Yehudah and among the inhabitants of Yerushalayim.
10
They have returned to the crookedness of their first fathers, who refused to hear My Words. They walked after other elohim to serve them. The House of Yisra’el and the House of Yehudah have broken My Covenant that I cut with their fathers.
11
Therefore thus says Yahuah: ‘See, I am bringing upon them evil from which they shall be unable to escape. They shall cry to Me, but I shall not hear them.
12
Then the cities of Yehudah and the inhabitants of Yerushalayim shall go and cry to the elohim to whom they burn incense, but saving, they shall not save them in the time of their evil.
13
For according to the number of your cities were your elohim, Yehudah; and according to the number of the streets of Yerushalayim you set altars to the shameful thing— altars to burn incense to Baal.
14
And you, do not pray for this people; do not lift up cry or prayer for them, for I shall not hear in the time they cry to Me because of their evil.
15
What is My beloved doing in My House, when she does the many schemes? Can set-apart flesh cause your evil to pass from you? When you do evil, then you rejoice.
16
“A green olive tree, beautiful with good fruit,” Yahuah called your name. At the sound of a great roar He has kindled fire upon it, and its branches are broken.
17
And Yahuah of Hosts, who planted you, has spoken evil against you because of the evil of the House of Yisra’el and of the House of Yehudah, which they did against themselves to provoke Me by burning incense to Baal.’”
18
And Yahuah caused me to know, and I knew. Then You caused me to see their deeds.
19
But I was like a gentle lamb brought to slaughter, and I did not know that they had devised schemes against me: “Let us destroy the tree with its fruit; let us cut him off from the land of the living, so that his name shall be remembered no more.”
20
But Yahuah of Hosts judges in Righteousness; He tests the kidneys and the heart. Let me see Your vengeance upon them, for to You I have revealed my cause.
21
Therefore thus says Yahuah concerning the men of Anatot who seek your being, saying, “Do not prophesy in the Name of Yahuah, that you do not die by our hand.”
22
Therefore thus says Yahuah of Hosts: “See, I am visiting them. The young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine.
23
And no remnant shall remain of them, for I shall bring evil upon the men of Anatot in the year of their visitation.”
