1
The Word that came to Yirmeyahu concerning all the people of Yehudah in the fourth year of Yehoyaqim son of Yoshiyahu, sovereign of Yehudah— which was the first year of Nevukhadretztzar sovereign of Bavel—
2
which Yirmeyahu the prophet spoke concerning all the people of Yehudah and to all the inhabitants of Yerushalayim, saying:
3
“From the thirteenth year of Yoshiyahu son of Amon, sovereign of Yehudah, even to this day— these twenty-three years— the Word of Yahuah has come to me, and I have spoken to you, rising early and speaking, but you have not heard.
4
And Yahuah sent to you all His servants the prophets, rising early and sending, but you did not hear or incline your ear to hear.
5
They said, ‘Return now, each ish from his evil way and from the evil of your deeds, and dwell upon the ground that Yahuah gave to you and your fathers from everlasting even to everlasting.
6
Do not walk after other elohim to serve them and bow yourselves to them. Do not provoke Me with the work of your hands, and I shall do you no evil.’
7
Yet you did not hear Me,” declares Yahuah, “so that you provoked Me with the work of your hands to your own evil.
8
Therefore thus says Yahuah of Hosts: ‘Because you have not heard My Words,
9
see, I am sending and taking all the families of the north,’ declares Yahuah, ‘and Nevukhadretztzar sovereign of Bavel, My servant. I shall bring them against this land, against its inhabitants, and against all these nations all around. I shall devote them to destruction and appoint them as an astonishment, a hissing, and everlasting wastes.
10
And I shall cause to perish from them the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of millstones and the light of the lamp.
11
And all this land shall become a waste and an astonishment, and these nations shall serve the sovereign of Bavel seventy years.
12
And it shall be when seventy years are completed, I shall visit the sovereign of Bavel and that nation for their crookedness,’ declares Yahuah, ‘and the land of the Kasdim, and I shall make it everlasting desolations.
13
And I shall bring upon that land all My Words that I spoke against it— all that is written in this scroll, which Yirmeyahu prophesied against all the nations.
14
For many nations and great sovereigns shall even make them serve. And I shall repay them according to their deeds and according to the work of their hands.’”
15
For thus said Yahuah, Elohim of Yisra’el, to me: “Take this cup of the wine of fury from My hand, and cause all the nations to whom I send you to drink it.
16
And they shall drink and stagger and act madly before the face of the sword that I am sending among them.”
17
Then I took the cup from the hand of Yahuah and caused all the nations to drink to whom Yahuah had sent me:
18
Yerushalayim and the cities of Yehudah, its sovereigns and its rulers, to give them as a waste, an astonishment, a hissing and a curse, as it is this day;
19
Pharaoh sovereign of Mitzrayim, his servants, his rulers, and all his people;
20
all the mixed people; all the sovereigns of the land of Utz; all the sovereigns of the land of the Pelishtim— Ashqelon, Azzah, Eqron, and the remnant of Ashdod;
21
Edom, Moav, and the sons of Ammon;
22
all the sovereigns of Tzor, all the sovereigns of Tzidon, and the sovereigns of the coastland across the sea;
23
Dedan, Tema, Buz, and all those with the corners of the hair cut;
24
all the sovereigns of Arav, and all the sovereigns of the mixed people dwelling in the wilderness;
25
all the sovereigns of Zimri, all the sovereigns of Elam, and all the sovereigns of Madai;
26
all the sovereigns of the north, near and far, each ish to his brother; and all the kingdoms of the earth that are upon the face of the ground. And the sovereign of Sheshakh shall drink after them.
27
“And you shall say to them, ‘Thus says Yahuah of Hosts, Elohim of Yisra’el: Drink and become drunk; vomit and fall and do not rise, before the face of the sword that I am sending among you.’
28
And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup from your hand to drink, then you shall say to them, ‘Thus says Yahuah of Hosts: Drinking, you shall drink.
29
For see, upon the city upon which My Name is called I am beginning to bring evil. And shall you be held innocent? You shall not be held innocent, for I am calling for a sword against all the inhabitants of the earth,’ declares Yahuah of Hosts.
30
And you, prophesy against them all these Words, and say to them: ‘Yahuah roars from on high and gives His voice from His set-apart dwelling. Roaring, He roars against His fold; like those treading grapes He answers all the inhabitants of the earth.
31
A tumult comes to the end of the earth, for Yahuah has a dispute with the nations. He enters Judgment with all flesh; the wicked He gives to the sword,’” declares Yahuah.
32
Thus says Yahuah of Hosts: “See, evil goes forth from nation to nation, and a great storm wind is awakened from the farthest parts of the earth.
33
And those pierced by Yahuah in that day shall be from one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth. They shall not be lamented, gathered, or buried; they shall become dung upon the face of the ground.
34
Howl, shepherds, and cry! Roll yourselves in ashes, mighty ones of the flock, for your days for slaughter and scattering are fulfilled, and you shall fall like a precious vessel.
35
Refuge shall perish from the shepherds, and escape from the mighty ones of the flock.
36
A voice—the cry of the shepherds, and the howling of the mighty ones of the flock— for Yahuah is destroying their pasture.
37
And the dwellings of shalom are silenced before the face of the burning anger of Yahuah.
38
Like the young lion He has left His covering, for their land has become a desolation before the face of the sword of the oppressor and before the face of His burning anger.”
