1
And it came to be in that same year, in the beginning of the reign of Tzidqiyahu sovereign of Yehudah, in the fourth year, in the fifth new moon, that Chananyahu son of Azzur, the prophet from Giveon, spoke to me in the House of Yahuah before the eyes of the Kohenim and all the people, saying,
2
“Thus speaks Yahuah of Hosts, Elohim of Yisra’el, saying, ‘I have broken the yoke of the sovereign of Bavel.
3
Within two years of days I shall return to this place all the vessels of the House of Yahuah that Nevukhadnetztzar sovereign of Bavel took from this place and brought to Bavel.
4
And Yekhanyahu son of Yehoyaqim, sovereign of Yehudah, and all the exiles from Yehudah who went to Bavel, I shall return to this place,’ declares Yahuah, ‘for I shall break the yoke of the sovereign of Bavel.’”
5
Then Yirmeyahu the prophet spoke to Chananyahu the prophet before the eyes of the Kohenim and before the eyes of all the people standing in the House of Yahuah.
6
And Yirmeyahu the prophet said, “Amen. May Yahuah do so. May Yahuah establish your words that you prophesied, to return the vessels of the House of Yahuah and all the exiles from Bavel to this place.
7
Yet hear now this Word that I speak in your ears and in the ears of all the people.
8
The prophets who were before my face and before your face from ancient time prophesied against many lands and against great kingdoms concerning battle, evil, and pestilence.
9
The prophet who prophesies shalom— when the word of that prophet comes— the prophet shall be known whom Yahuah sent in truth.”
10
Then Chananyahu the prophet took the yoke from upon the neck of Yirmeyahu the prophet and broke it.
11
And Chananyahu spoke before the eyes of all the people, saying, “Thus says Yahuah: ‘In this way, within two years of days, I shall break the yoke of Nevukhadnetztzar sovereign of Bavel from upon the neck of all the nations.’” And Yirmeyahu the prophet went his way.
12
And the Word of Yahuah came to Yirmeyahu after Chananyahu the prophet had broken the yoke from upon the neck of Yirmeyahu the prophet, saying,
13
“Go and speak to Chananyahu, saying, ‘Thus says Yahuah: Yokes of wood you have broken, but in their place you shall make yokes of iron.
14
For thus says Yahuah of Hosts, Elohim of Yisra’el: A yoke of iron I have placed upon the neck of all these nations to serve Nevukhadnetztzar sovereign of Bavel, and they shall serve him. Even the beasts of the field I have given to him.’”
15
Then Yirmeyahu the prophet said to Chananyahu the prophet, “Hear now, Chananyahu: Yahuah did not send you, but you have caused this people to trust in falsehood.
16
Therefore thus says Yahuah: ‘See, I am sending you away from upon the face of the ground. This year you shall die, for you have spoken rebellion against Yahuah.’”
17
And Chananyahu the prophet died in that year, in the seventh new moon.
