1
A prayer of the afflicted when he grows faint and pours out his complaint before the face of Yahuah.
2
Yahuah, hear my prayer, and let my cry come to You.
3
Do not hide Your face from me in the day of my distress. Incline Your ear to me; in the day I call, hurry, answer me.
4
For my days are consumed in smoke, and my bones burn like a hearth.
5
My heart is struck and withered like grass, for I forget to eat my bread.
6
From the voice of my groaning, my bones cling to my flesh.
7
I am like a desert pelican; I have become like an owl of ruins.
8
I keep watch and become like a lone bird upon a roof.
9
All day my enemies reproach me; those raging against me swear by me.
10
For I have eaten ashes like bread and mixed my drink with weeping,
11
because of Your indignation and wrath, for You lifted me and cast me away.
12
My days are like a stretched shadow, and I wither like grass.
13
But You, Yahuah, sit forever, and Your remembrance from generation to generation.
14
You arise and show compassion to Tziyon, for it is time to show her favor; the appointed time has come.
15
For Your servants delight in her stones and show favor to her dust.
16
Nations revere the Name of Yahuah, and all kings of the earth Your Glory.
17
For Yahuah has built Tziyon; He appears in His Glory.
18
He turns toward the prayer of the stripped bare and does not despise their prayer.
19
This is written for the generation afterward, and a people created praises Yah.
20
For He looked from the height of His Set-Apart Place; Yahuah gazed from the heavens to the earth,
21
to hear the groaning of the prisoner, to release the sons of death,
22
to recount the Name of Yahuah in Tziyon and His praise in Yerushalayim,
23
when peoples gather together, and kingdoms, to serve Yahuah.
24
He afflicted my strength in the way; He shortened my days.
25
I said, “My El, do not take me up at half my days. Your years are from generation to generation.
26
Before, You founded the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands.
27
They perish, but You stand; all wear out like a garment. Like clothing You change them, and they pass away.
28
But You are He, and Your years do not end.
29
The sons of Your servants dwell, and their seed is established before Your face.”
