1
Praise Yah! Of Daviyd ben Yishai. I was the smallest among my brothers, and the youngest among the sons of my mother.
2
He set me as shepherd of his flock and ruler over his young goats.
3
My hands made a pipe, and my fingers a lyre; I set Glory toward Yahuah.
4
I said within my being: “The mountains do not witness to Him, and the hills do not declare Him— the trees, His Word, and the flock, His works.
5
For who declares, and who speaks, and who recounts His works?” Adon of all saw; Eloah of all heard and gave ear.
6
He sent His prophet to anoint me— Shemu’el, to make me great. My brothers went out to meet him, beautiful in form and beautiful in appearance,
7
tall in their stature and beautiful in their hair; Yahuah Elohim did not choose them. He sent and took me from behind the flock, anointed me with set-apart oil, and set me as leader of His people and ruler among the sons of His Covenant.
