1
For see, the Master, Yahuah of Hosts, is removing from Yerushalayim and from Yehudah support and supply— all support of bread, and all support of water;
2
mighty man and man of war, judge and prophet, diviner and elder;
3
commander of fifty, and one lifted in face, and counselor, and skilled craftsman, and one understanding enchantment.
4
And I will appoint youths as their rulers, and childish ones shall rule over them.
5
And the people shall oppress one another, each ish his companion. The youth shall act arrogantly toward the elder, and the despised toward the honored.
6
When an ish takes hold of his brother in the house of his father, saying: “You have a garment; you shall be ruler for us, and this ruin shall be under your hand,”
7
he shall lift up his voice in that day, saying: “I will not be a binder of wounds, for in my house there is neither bread nor garment. Do not appoint me ruler of the people.”
8
For Yerushalayim has stumbled, and Yehudah has fallen, because their tongue and their deeds are against Yahuah, to rebel against the eyes of His glory.
9
The appearance of their faces testifies against them, and they declare their sin like Sedom; they do not conceal it. Woe to their being, for they have brought evil upon themselves.
10
Say of the righteous that it shall be good, for they shall eat the fruit of their deeds.
11
Woe to the wicked! Evil shall be upon him, for the dealing of his hands shall be done to him.
12
My people—children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. My people, those who lead you cause you to wander and swallow up the way of your paths.
13
Yahuah stands to contend, and He stands to judge the peoples.
14
Yahuah enters into Judgment with the elders of His people and its rulers: “You have consumed the vineyard. The plunder of the poor is in your houses.
15
What is it to you that you crush My people and grind the faces of the poor?” declares the Master, Yahuah of Hosts.
16
And Yahuah said: “Because the daughters of Tziyon are haughty, and walk with stretched-out neck and wandering eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet,
17
therefore Adonai will strike with scab the crown of the daughters of Tziyon, and Yahuah will expose their nakedness.”
18
In that day Adonai will remove the beauty of the anklets, and the headbands, and the crescent ornaments;
19
the pendants, and the bracelets, and the veils;
20
the headdresses, and the ankle chains, and the sashes, and the perfume boxes, and the amulets;
21
the rings, and the nose ornaments;
22
the festal garments, and the mantles, and the cloaks, and the purses;
23
the mirrors, and the fine linen, and the turbans, and the shawls.
24
And it shall be: instead of perfume, decay; instead of a belt, a rope; instead of arranged hair, baldness; instead of a rich garment, a girding of sackcloth; and branding instead of beauty.
25
Your men shall fall by the sword, and your strength in battle.
26
And her gates shall lament and mourn, and emptied, she shall sit upon the ground.
