1
And it came to pass in the days of Achaz son of Yotam, son of Uzziyahu, king of Yehudah, that Retzin king of Aram and Peqach son of Remalyahu, king of Yisra’el, went up toward Yerushalayim for war against it, but they were not able to wage war against it.
2
And it was declared to the House of Daviyd, saying: “Aram has rested upon Efrayim.” And his heart shook, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest shake before the ruach.
3
And Yahuah said to Yeshayahu: “Go out, please, to meet Achaz, you and Shear-Yashuv your son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, by the highway of the fuller’s field.
4
And say to him: ‘Guard yourself and be quiet. Do not fear, and do not let your heart grow soft because of these two smoking stumps of firebrands, because of the burning anger of Retzin and Aram, and the son of Remalyahu.
5
Because Aram has counseled evil against you, Efrayim and the son of Remalyahu, saying:
6
“Let us go up against Yehudah and terrify it, and let us break it open for ourselves, and let us make a king in its midst, the son of Tave’el.”
7
Thus says Adonai Yahuah: “It shall not stand, and it shall not come to pass.
8
For the head of Aram is Dammeseq, and the head of Dammeseq is Retzin. And within sixty-five years Efrayim shall be shattered from being a people.
9
And the head of Efrayim is Shomron, and the head of Shomron is the son of Remalyahu. If you do not stand firm in trust, surely you shall not stand.”’”
10
And Yahuah spoke again to Achaz, saying:
11
“Ask for yourself a sign from Yahuah your Elohim. Make it deep toward Sheol, or make it high upward.”
12
But Achaz said: “I will not ask, and I will not test Yahuah.”
13
And he said: “Hear now, House of Daviyd. Is it a small thing for you to weary Adam, that you would also weary my Elohim?
14
Therefore Adonai Himself shall give you a sign: See, the young woman is pregnant and bearing a son, and she shall call his name Immanu-El.
15
Curds and honey he shall eat, until he knows to refuse evil and choose good.
16
For before the boy knows to refuse evil and choose good, the land whose two kings you dread shall be abandoned.
17
Yahuah shall bring upon you, and upon your people, and upon your father’s House, days that have not come since the day Efrayim departed from Yehudah— the king of Ashshur.”
18
And it shall come to pass in that day that Yahuah shall whistle for the fly that is at the end of the rivers of Mitzrayim, and for the bee that is in the land of Ashshur.
19
And they shall all come and rest in the steep wadis, and in the clefts of the rocks, and upon all the thornbushes, and upon all the watering places.
20
In that day Adonai shall shave with a razor hired from beyond the River—with the king of Ashshur—the head and the hair of the feet, and it shall also sweep away the beard.
21
And it shall come to pass in that day that an ish shall keep alive a young cow and two sheep.
22
And it shall come to pass, from the abundance of milk they produce, that he shall eat curds. For curds and honey shall everyone eat who remains in the midst of the land.
23
And it shall come to pass in that day that every place where there were a thousand vines worth a thousand pieces of silver shall become thorn and brier.
24
With arrows and bow shall one come there, for all the land shall become thorn and brier.
25
And all the mountains that were hoed with the hoe—you shall not go there for fear of thorn and brier. And they shall become a place for sending out oxen, and for sheep to trample.
