1
The burden of Tzur. Howl, ships of Tarshish, for it is laid waste, without house and without harbor. From the land of Kittim the report is revealed to them.
2
Be silent, inhabitants of the coastland, you whom the merchants of Tzidon, crossing the sea, have filled.
3
Upon great waters came the seed of Shichor; the harvest of the Nile was her revenue, and she became the market of the nations.
4
Be ashamed, Tzidon, for the sea has spoken, the stronghold of the sea, saying: “I have not labored nor brought forth; I have not raised young men nor brought up virgins.”
5
When the report reaches Mitzrayim, they shall writhe at the report of Tzur.
6
Cross over to Tarshish; howl, inhabitants of the coastland.
7
Is this your rejoicing city, whose beginning is from ancient days, whose feet carried her far away to sojourn?
8
Who has purposed this against Tzur, the crowning city, whose merchants are rulers, whose traders are the honored of the earth?
9
Yahuah of Hosts has purposed it, to profane the pride of every glory and to bring low all the honored of the earth.
10
Overflow your land like the Nile, daughter of Tarshish; there is no restraint any longer.
11
He stretched His hand over the sea; He shook kingdoms. Yahuah commanded concerning Kena’an, to destroy her strongholds.
12
And He said: “You shall no longer rejoice, oppressed virgin daughter of Tzidon. Rise, cross over to Kittim; even there you shall have no rest.”
13
See the land of the Kasdim— this people was not. Ashshur appointed it for wilderness dwellers. They raised their siege towers, stripped her palaces, and made her a ruin.
14
Howl, ships of Tarshish, for your stronghold is laid waste.
15
And it shall be in that day: Tzur shall be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king. At the end of seventy years it shall be with Tzur as in the song of the prostitute:
16
“Take a lyre; go around the city, forgotten prostitute. Play skillfully; multiply song, so that you may be remembered.”
17
And it shall be at the end of seventy years: Yahuah shall visit Tzur. She shall return to her hire and prostitute herself with all the kingdoms of the earth upon the face of the ground.
18
Yet her profit and her hire shall be set apart to Yahuah. It shall not be stored or hoarded, for her profit shall be for those dwelling before Yahuah, for food to fullness and for enduring clothing.
