1
“Woe to rebellious sons,” declares Yahuah, “who make counsel, but not from Me, and pour out a covering, but not from My ruach, adding sin upon sin;
2
who walk to descend into Mitzrayim without asking My Mouth, to take strength in the stronghold of Pharaoh and to seek refuge in the shadow of Mitzrayim.
3
Therefore the stronghold of Pharaoh shall become your shame, and refuge in the shadow of Mitzrayim your humiliation.
4
For his rulers are at Tzoan, and his messengers reach Chanes.
5
Everyone shall be ashamed of a people that cannot profit them, neither help nor profit, but shame and also reproach.”
6
The burden of the beasts of the Negev: Through a land of distress and anguish, from which come lioness and lion, viper and flying fiery serpent, they carry their wealth upon the shoulders of young donkeys and their treasures upon the humps of camels, to a people that cannot profit.
7
For Mitzrayim helps with emptiness and vapor. Therefore I have called her, “Rahav who sits still.”
8
Now come, write it before them upon a tablet, and inscribe it in a sefer, that it may be for the latter day, as a witness forever.
9
For this is a rebellious people, lying sons, sons unwilling to hear the Torah of Yahuah;
10
who say to the seers, “Do not see,” and to those having vision, “Do not give us right visions. Speak smooth things to us; envision deceptions.
11
Turn aside from the path; bend away from the way. Cause the Holy One of Yisra’el to cease from before our face.”
12
Therefore thus says the Holy One of Yisra’el: “Because you reject this Word and trust in oppression and crookedness, and lean upon them,
13
therefore this crookedness shall be to you like a breach ready to fall, bulging in a high wall, whose breaking comes suddenly, in a moment.
14
He shall break it as the breaking of a potter’s vessel, crushed without compassion, so that among its shattered pieces not a shard is found for taking fire from the hearth or drawing water from a cistern.”
15
For thus said Adonai Yahuah, the Holy One of Yisra’el: “By returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and trust shall be your strength.” But you were not willing.
16
And you said, “No, for upon horses we shall flee.” Therefore you shall flee. And, “Upon swift ones we shall ride.” Therefore those pursuing you shall be swift.
17
One thousand shall flee at the rebuke of one; at the rebuke of five you shall flee, until you are left like a mast upon the head of a mountain and like a signal upon a hill.
18
Therefore Yahuah waits to show you favor; therefore He rises to show you compassion. For Yahuah is an Elohim of Judgment. Favored are all who wait for Him.
19
For a people shall dwell in Tziyon, in Yerushalayim. Weeping, you shall weep no more. Favoring, He shall favor you at the voice of your cry. When He hears it, He shall answer you.
20
Though Adonai gives you bread of distress and water of affliction, your teachers shall no longer hide themselves, but your eyes shall see your teachers.
21
And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the Way; walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right or whenever you turn to the left.
22
And you shall defile the silver covering of your carved images and the gold overlay of your cast images. You shall scatter them like a menstrual cloth; you shall say to it, “Go out.”
23
Then He shall give rain for your seed with which you sow the ground, and bread from the produce of the ground; it shall be rich and abundant. In that day your livestock shall graze in broad pasture.
24
The oxen and young donkeys that work the ground shall eat seasoned fodder, winnowed with shovel and fork.
25
And upon every high mountain and upon every lifted hill there shall be channels and streams of water, in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.
26
And the light of the moon shall be like the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, like the light of seven days, in the day Yahuah binds the fracture of His people and heals the wound of His blow.
27
See, the Name of Yahuah comes from afar, His anger burning and His burden heavy. His lips are full of fury, and His tongue like a consuming fire.
28
His breath is like an overflowing torrent reaching even to the neck, to sift the nations with a sieve of emptiness; and a bridle causing error is upon the jaws of the peoples.
29
A song shall be yours as in the night when a holy feast is sanctified, and gladness of heart as when one walks with a flute to come to the mountain of Yahuah, to the Rock of Yisra’el.
30
And Yahuah shall cause the majesty of His voice to be heard, and show the descent of His arm in raging anger, with a flame of consuming fire, cloudburst, storm, and hailstones.
31
For at the voice of Yahuah Ashshur shall be shattered; with a rod He shall strike.
32
And every passing stroke of the appointed staff that Yahuah lays upon him shall be with tambourines and harps; and with battles of shaking He shall fight against them.
33
For Topheth has long been prepared; indeed, for the king it has been established. He has made its pile deep and wide, fire and much wood. The breath of Yahuah, like a torrent of sulfur, kindles it.
