1
In those days Chizqiyahu became sick unto death. And Yeshayahu the prophet, son of Amotz, came to him and said to him: “Thus says Yahuah: Set your House in order, for dying, you shall die, and you shall not live.”
2
Then Chizqiyahu turned his face toward the wall and prayed to Yahuah.
3
And he said: “Please, Yahuah, remember how I have walked before Your face in faithfulness and with a complete heart, and have done what is good in Your eyes.” And Chizqiyahu wept with great weeping.
4
And the Word of Yahuah came to Yeshayahu, saying:
5
“Go and say to Chizqiyahu: ‘Thus says Yahuah, Elohim of Daviyd your father: I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. See, I am adding fifteen years to your days.
6
And from the palm of the king of Ashshur I shall deliver you and this city, and I shall defend this city.
7
And this shall be the sign to you from Yahuah, that Yahuah shall do this Word which He has spoken:
8
See, I shall cause the shadow of the steps, which has descended with the sun upon the steps of Achaz, to return backward ten steps.’” And the sun returned ten steps upon the steps by which it had descended.
9
A writing of Chizqiyahu king of Yehudah, when he was sick and lived from his sickness:
10
I said, “In the stillness of my days I shall walk into the gates of Sheol. I am deprived of the remainder of my years.”
11
I said, “I shall not see Yah— Yah in the land of the living. I shall no longer look upon Adam with the inhabitants of cessation.
12
My dwelling is pulled up and removed from me like a shepherd’s tent. Like a weaver I have rolled up my life; He cuts me away from the loom. From day to night You bring me to an end.
13
I calmed myself until morning. Like a lion, so He breaks all my bones. From day to night You bring me to an end.
14
Like a swallow or a crane, so I chirp; I moan like a dove. My eyes fail looking upward. Adonai, I am oppressed; be my pledge.
15
What shall I speak? He has said to me, and He Himself has done it. I shall walk slowly all my years because of the bitterness of my being.
16
Adonai, by these they live, and in all these is the life of my ruach. Cause me to recover and let me live.
17
See, for shalom I had great bitterness, but You loved my being away from the pit of decay, for You cast all my sins behind Your back.
18
For Sheol does not thank You; death does not praise You. Those descending into the pit do not wait for Your faithfulness.
19
The living, the living, he thanks You, as I do this day. A father makes known to sons Your faithfulness.
20
Yahuah was ready to save me. Therefore we shall play my songs on stringed instruments all the days of our life in the House of Yahuah.”
21
And Yeshayahu had said, “Let them take a cake of figs and rub it upon the boil, that he may live.”
22
And Chizqiyahu had said, “What is the sign that I shall ascend to the House of Yahuah?”
