1
And the Word of Yahuah came to me in the ninth year, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, saying:
2
“Son of Adam, write for yourself the name of this day—this very day. The king of Bavel has laid siege against Yerushalayim on this very day.
3
And speak a proverb to the rebellious house, and say to them: ‘Thus says Adonai Yahuah: Set on the pot. Set it on. And also pour water into it.
4
Gather its pieces into it— every good piece, thigh and shoulder. Fill it with choice bones.
5
Take the choice of the flock, and also pile the bones beneath it. Boiling, boil it well, and let its bones boil in its midst.’
6
Therefore thus says Adonai Yahuah: ‘Woe to the city of blood, the pot whose rust is in it, and whose rust has not gone out from it. Piece by piece bring it out. No lot has fallen upon it.
7
For her blood is in her midst. Upon a bare rock she placed it. She did not pour it upon the earth to cover it with dust.
8
To cause wrath to rise, to take vengeance, I have placed her blood upon the bare rock, so that it should not be covered.’
9
Therefore thus says Adonai Yahuah: ‘Woe to the city of blood. I Myself will make the pile great.
10
Multiply the wood. Kindle the fire. Finish the flesh. Mix in the spices. And let the bones be burned.
11
Then set it empty upon its coals, so that its bronze may grow hot and burn, and its uncleanness may melt within it, and its rust be consumed.
12
She has wearied herself with toil, yet her abundant rust has not gone out from her. Into the fire with her rust.
13
In your uncleanness is lewdness. Because I cleansed you, but you were not cleansed, you shall no longer be cleansed from your uncleanness until I cause My wrath to rest upon you.
14
I, Yahuah, have spoken. It comes, and I will do it. I will not turn back, and I will not spare, and I will not relent. According to your ways and according to your deeds they shall judge you,’ declares Adonai Yahuah.”
15
And the Word of Yahuah came to me, saying:
16
“Son of Adam, see, I am taking from you the desire of your eyes with a stroke. Yet you shall not mourn, and you shall not weep, and your tears shall not come.
17
Groaning, be silent. Do not make mourning for the dead. Bind your turban upon you, and place your sandals upon your feet. Do not cover the mustache, and do not eat the bread of men.”
18
And I spoke to the people in the morning, and my ishah died in the evening. And in the morning I did according to what I was commanded.
19
And the people said to me: “Will you not declare to us what these things mean for us, that you are doing?”
20
And I said to them: “The Word of Yahuah came to me, saying:
21
‘Say to the House of Yisra’el: Thus says Adonai Yahuah: See, I am profaning My Sanctuary— the pride of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and the compassion of your being. And your sons and your daughters whom you left behind shall fall by the sword.
22
And you shall do as I have done. You shall not cover the mustache, and you shall not eat the bread of men.
23
And your turbans shall be upon your heads, and your sandals upon your feet. You shall not mourn, and you shall not weep. But you shall waste away in your crookedness, and groan each ish to his brother.
24
And Yechezqel shall be a sign to you. According to all that he has done, you shall do. When it comes, you shall know that I am Adonai Yahuah.’
25
And you, son of Adam, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their stronghold, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and the lifting of their being, their sons and their daughters—
26
that in that day the escaped one shall come to you to cause your ears to hear?
27
In that day your mouth shall be opened with the escaped one, and you shall speak and no longer be mute. And you shall be a sign to them, and they shall know that I am Yahuah.”
