1
But on the first day of the week, at very early dawn, the women came to the tomb, bringing the fragrant spices which they had prepared.
2
And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb.
3
And entering, they did not find the body of the Master Yahushua.
4
And it happened, while they were perplexed concerning this, see— two men stood beside them in garments flashing with brightness.
5
And as they became afraid and bowed their faces toward the ground, the men said to them: “Why do you seek the living among the dead?
6
He is not here. He has been raised. Remember how he spoke to you while he was still in Galil,
7
saying: ‘The Son of Adam must be handed over into the hands of sinful Adam, and be executed upon a stake, and on the third day rise.’”
8
And they remembered his words.
9
And returning from the tomb, they reported all these things to the eleven and to all the others.
10
Now they were Miryam of Migdal, and Yochanah, and Miryam the mother of Yaaqov, and the other women with them, who were telling these things to the emissaries.
11
But these words appeared before them like nonsense, and they did not trust the women.
12
But Kepha rose and ran to the tomb. And bending down, he saw the linen cloths by themselves. And he went away, marveling within himself at what had happened.
13
And see— two of them were traveling that same day to a village whose name was Emmaus, about sixty stadia from Yerushalayim.
14
And they were speaking with one another about all these things that had happened.
15
And it happened, while they were speaking and reasoning together, Yahushua himself drew near and began walking with them.
16
But their eyes were restrained so that they did not recognize him.
17
And he said to them: “What are these words you are exchanging with one another as you walk?” And they stood still, looking downcast.
18
And one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answered and said to him: “Are you the only one staying in Yerushalayim who does not know the things that happened there in these days?”
19
And he said to them: “What things?” And they said to him: “The things concerning Yahushua the Natzri, who became a prophet mighty in deed and word before Elohim and all the people,
20
and how the chief kohenim and our rulers handed him over to a judgment of death and executed him upon a stake.
21
But we had hoped that he was the one about to redeem Yisra’el. And besides all this, today is the third day since these things happened.
22
But also some women among us astonished us. They went early to the tomb,
23
and when they did not find his body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of messengers who said that he is alive.
24
And some of those with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but him they did not see.”
25
And he said to them: “O foolish ones, and slow in heart to trust all that the prophets have spoken.
26
Was it not necessary for the Anointed to suffer these things and enter into his glory?”
27
And beginning from Mosheh and from all the prophets, he interpreted to them in all the sefarim the things concerning himself.
28
And they drew near to the village where they were going. And he acted as though he were going farther.
29
But they urged him strongly, saying: “Remain with us, because evening is drawing near and the day has already declined.” And he entered to remain with them.
30
And it happened, while he reclined with them, he took the bread, blessed, broke it, and gave it to them.
31
And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And he became hidden from their sight.
32
And they said to one another: “Was not our heart burning within us while he spoke to us on the road, while he opened the sefarim to us?”
33
And rising in that same hour, they returned to Yerushalayim and found the eleven and those with them gathered together,
34
saying: “The Master has truly been raised and appeared to Shim’on.”
35
And they recounted the things that happened on the road, and how he became known to them in the breaking of the bread.
36
And while they were speaking these things, Yahushua himself stood in their midst and said to them: “Shalom to you.”
37
But they were terrified and became afraid, thinking they were seeing a ruach.
38
And he said to them: “Why are you troubled? And why do reasonings arise in your hearts?
39
See my hands and my feet— that it is I myself. Touch me and see. For a ruach does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.”
40
And saying this, he showed them his hands and his feet.
41
And while they still did not trust because of joy and were marveling, he said to them: “Do you have anything here to eat?”
42
And they gave him a piece of roasted fish.
43
And taking it, he ate before them.
44
And he said to them: “These are my words which I spoke to you while I was still with you— that everything written concerning me in the Torah of Mosheh, and the Prophets, and Tehilliym, must be fulfilled.”
45
Then he opened their understanding to understand the sefarim.
46
And he said to them: “Thus it is written: the Anointed must suffer and rise from the dead on the third day,
47
and turning back for forgiveness of sins must be proclaimed in his name to all the nations, beginning from Yerushalayim.
48
You are witnesses of these things.
49
And see— I send upon you the promise of my Father. But remain in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”
50
And he led them out as far as Beit-Anyah. And lifting up his hands, he blessed them.
51
And it happened, while he was blessing them, he separated from them and was carried up into the heavens.
52
And they bowed before him and returned to Yerushalayim with great joy.
53
And they were continually in the House, blessing Elohim.
