1
And when the day of Shavuot had fully come, they were all together in one place.
2
And suddenly there came from the heavens a sound like the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
3
And there appeared to them divided tongues, like fire, and one rested upon each of them.
4
And they were all filled with Holy Ruach and began to speak in other tongues as the Ruach gave them utterance.
5
Now there were dwelling in Yerushalayim Yehudim, devout ishim, from every nation under the heavens.
6
And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together and was confounded, because each one heard them speaking in his own tongue.
7
And they were all amazed and astonished, saying: “See— are not all these who are speaking Galileans?
8
And how do we hear, each one of us, in our own tongue in which we were born?
9
Parthians, Medes, Elamites, and those dwelling in Aram-Naharaim, Yehudah, Qappadoqia, Pontos, and Asia,
10
Phrygia, Pamphylia, Mitsrayim, and the regions of Libya toward Cyrene, and visitors from Rome— both Yehudim and proselytes—
11
Cretans and Arabs— we hear them speaking in our own tongues the mighty works of Elohim.”
12
And they were all amazed and perplexed, saying one to another: “What does this mean?”
13
But others mocking said: “They are filled with sweet wine.”
14
But Kepha, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and declared to them: “Ishim of Yehudah, and all who dwell in Yerushalayim, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words.
15
For these are not drunk as you suppose, for it is only the third hour of the day.
16
But this is what was spoken through the prophet Yo’el:
17
‘And it shall be in the last days, says Elohim, I shall pour out from My Ruach upon all flesh. And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young ishim shall see visions, and your elders shall dream dreams.
18
And even upon My servants and upon My maidservants in those days I shall pour out from My Ruach, and they shall prophesy.
19
And I shall give wonders in the heavens above and signs upon the earth below— blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke.
20
The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before there comes the great and manifest day of Yahuah.
21
And it shall be that everyone who calls upon the Name of Yahuah shall be delivered.’
22
Ishim of Yisra’el, hear these words: Yahushua the Natzri, an ish attested to you by Elohim through mighty works, and wonders, and signs, which Elohim did through him in your midst, just as you yourselves know—
23
this one, having been handed over according to the determined counsel and foreknowledge of Elohim, you seized through the hands of lawless men and executed upon a stake, putting him to death.
24
But Elohim raised him, loosening the pains of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.
25
For Daviyd says concerning him: ‘I saw Yahuah before me continually, because He is at my right hand, so that I may not be shaken.
26
Because of this my heart rejoiced, and my tongue was glad, and even my flesh shall dwell in hope,
27
because You shall not abandon my being to Sheol, nor allow Your set-apart one to see corruption.
28
You made known to me the paths of life. You shall fill me with joy before Your face.’
29
Brothers, it is permitted to speak to you with boldness concerning the patriarch Daviyd, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us until this day.
30
Therefore, being a prophet and knowing that Elohim had sworn to him with an Oath that from the fruit of his loins He would seat one upon his Throne,
31
he foresaw and spoke concerning the resurrection of the Anointed— that he was not abandoned to Sheol, nor did his flesh see corruption.
32
This Yahushua Elohim raised, of which we all are witnesses.
33
Therefore, having been exalted to the right hand of Elohim, and having received from the Father the promise of Holy Ruach, he poured out this which you now see and hear.
34
For Daviyd did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says: ‘Yahuah said to my Master: Sit at My right hand
35
until I place your enemies as a footstool for your feet.’
36
Therefore let all the House of Yisra’el know with certainty that Elohim made this Yahushua, whom you executed upon a stake, both Master and Anointed.”
37
And when they heard this, they were pierced in the heart and said to Kepha and the rest of the emissaries: “Brothers, what shall we do?”
38
And Kepha said to them: “Repent, and let each of you be immersed in the Name of Yahushua the Anointed for release of your sins, and you shall receive the gift of Holy Ruach.
39
For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all who are far away— as many as Yahuah our Elohim shall call.”
40
And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying: “Be delivered from this crooked generation.”
41
Therefore those who received his word were immersed, and on that day about three thousand beings were added.
42
And they continued steadfastly in the teaching of the emissaries, and in fellowship, and in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.
43
And fear came upon every being, and many wonders and signs were being done through the emissaries.
44
And all who trusted were together and had all things in common.
45
And they sold possessions and goods and distributed them to all, according to the need of each one.
46
And day by day, continuing with one accord in the House, and breaking bread from house to house, they received their food with gladness and simplicity of heart,
47
praising Elohim and having favor with all the people. And Yahuah added day by day those being delivered.
