1
Now there was a certain ish in Caesarea named Qornelios, a centurion from what was called the Italian Cohort,
2
a devout ish and one reverencing Elohim with all his household, giving many alms to the people and petitioning Elohim continually.
3
About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision a messenger of Elohim coming to him and saying: “Qornelios.”
4
And staring at him, he became afraid and said: “What is it, Master?” And he said to him: “Your prayers and your alms have ascended as a memorial before Elohim.
5
And now send ishim to Yafo and summon Shim’on who is called Kepha.
6
He is lodging with a certain Shim’on, a tanner, whose house is beside the sea.”
7
And when the messenger who spoke to him departed, he called two of his household servants and a devout soldier from among those continually attending him.
8
And having explained everything to them, he sent them to Yafo.
9
Now on the next day, while they were traveling and drawing near to the city, Kepha went up upon the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour.
10
And he became hungry and desired to eat. But while they were preparing, a trance came upon him.
11
And he saw the heavens opened and a certain vessel descending, like a great linen sheet, being lowered by four corners upon the earth.
12
In it were all kinds of four-footed creatures and creeping things of the earth and birds of the heavens.
13
And a voice came to him: “Rise, Kepha. Slaughter and eat.”
14
But Kepha said: “Certainly not, Master, for I have never eaten anything common or unclean.”
15
And a voice came again to him a second time: “What Elohim has cleansed, do not call common.”
16
And this happened three times, and immediately the vessel was taken up into the heavens.
17
Now while Kepha was perplexed within himself concerning what the vision which he had seen might mean, see— the ishim sent from Qornelios, having asked for the house of Shim’on, stood at the gate.
18
And calling out, they asked whether Shim’on, the one called Kepha, was lodging there.
19
And while Kepha was pondering the vision, the Ruach said to him: “See— three ishim are seeking you.
20
But rise, go down, and go with them, doubting nothing, because I have sent them.”
21
And Kepha went down to the ishim and said: “See— I am the one whom you seek. For what reason have you come?”
22
And they said: “Qornelios, a centurion, a righteous ish and one reverencing Elohim, having good testimony from the whole nation of the Yehudim, was divinely instructed through a set-apart messenger to summon you to his house and to hear words from you.”
23
Therefore he invited them in and lodged them. And on the next day he rose and went with them, and some of the brothers from Yafo went with him.
24
And on the next day they entered Caesarea. And Qornelios was waiting for them, having called together his relatives and close friends.
25
And when it came to pass that Kepha entered, Qornelios met him, fell at his feet, and bowed down.
26
But Kepha raised him, saying: “Rise. I myself also am an ish.”
27
And speaking with him, he entered and found many gathered together.
28
And he said to them: “You know how unlawful it is considered for a Yehudi to join himself or come near to one of another nation. But Elohim showed me that I should call no Adam common or unclean.
29
Therefore also without objection I came when summoned. I ask, then, for what reason you sent for me.”
30
And Qornelios said: “Four days ago at this very hour, the ninth hour, I was praying in my house, and see— an ish stood before me in shining garments,
31
and said: ‘Qornelios, your prayer has been heard, and your alms have been remembered before Elohim.
32
Therefore send to Yafo and summon Shim’on who is called Kepha. He is lodging in the house of Shim’on, a tanner, beside the sea.’
33
Therefore I sent to you immediately, and you did well to come. Now therefore we are all present before Elohim to hear all things commanded to you by Yahuah.”
34
And Kepha opened his mouth and said: “In truth I understand that Elohim is not one who shows partiality,
35
but in every nation, the one who reverences Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him.
36
The Word which He sent to the children of Yisra’el, proclaiming the Besorah of shalom through Yahushua the Anointed— this one is Master of all—
37
you yourselves know the matter that happened throughout all Yehudah, beginning from Galil after the immersion which Yochanan proclaimed:
38
Yahushua the Natzri— how Elohim anointed him with Holy Ruach and power, who went about doing good and restoring all those oppressed by the adversary, because Elohim was with him.
39
And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Yehudim and in Yerushalayim, whom they killed by hanging him upon a tree.
40
This one Elohim raised on the third day and granted him to become manifest,
41
not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen beforehand by Elohim— to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.
42
And he commanded us to proclaim to the people and to testify fully that this one is the one appointed by Elohim as Judge of living and dead.
43
To this one all the prophets bear witness, that through his Name everyone who trusts in him receives forgiveness of sins.”
44
While Kepha was still speaking these words, Holy Ruach fell upon all those hearing the Word.
45
And those of the circumcision who trusted, as many as had come with Kepha, were astonished because the gift of Holy Ruach had also been poured out upon the nations.
46
For they heard them speaking in tongues and magnifying Elohim. Then Kepha answered:
47
“Is anyone able to withhold the water, so that these should not be immersed, who received Holy Ruach just as we also did?”
48
And he commanded them to be immersed in the Name of Yahushua the Anointed. Then they asked him to remain some days.
