1
Yahuah said to Mosheh that seventy elders of Yisra'el were to be gathered - ishim known among the people as elders and officers - so that the burden of the people would not rest upon Mosheh alone.
2
Mosheh gathered the elders around the Tent, and Yahuah came down in the cloud. He took from the Ruach that rested upon Mosheh and placed it upon the elders, and when the Ruach rested upon them, they prophesied.
3
But two ishim remained in the camp. The name of the first was Eldad, and the name of the second was Medad. They were among those who had been recorded, yet they had not gone out to the Tent.
4
And the Ruach rested upon them also, and they prophesied within the camp.
5
A young ish ran and told Mosheh, saying, "Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp."
6
Yehoshua ben Nun, servant of Mosheh from his youth, answered and said, "My master Mosheh, restrain them."
7
But Mosheh said to him, "Are you jealous for my sake? Would that all the people of Yahuah were prophets - that Yahuah would place His Ruach upon them."
8
And Mosheh returned to the camp with the elders of Yisra'el. Medad tradition. This is not presented as a surviving portion of the lost apocryphal book.
