1
Adam said to Shet: “Now hear what was made known to me concerning the generations that come after us.”
2
“When I was driven from the Garden, Yahuah spoke concerning the restoration that would come in the latter days.”
3
“The received Syriac Prophecy says that the Word of El Elyon would descend into the earth and take human form through an ishah who had not known an ish.”
4
“The recension names her Miryam and describes the one born from her as moving among Adam, growing in years, and making the power of Elohim known openly.”
5
“It speaks of signs: the blind receiving sight, the deaf hearing, the lame walking, the afflicted being restored, hostile ruachot driven out, and the sea and winds obeying his command.”
6
“The text therefore presents this future figure as a Deliverer whose works reverse sickness, oppression, and the consequences of corruption.”
7
“Yahuah said to me: ‘Adam, you desired to become like Elohim and transgressed My command.’”
8
“‘You shall not receive the fullness you desired through theft or disobedience.’”
9
“‘Yet after the appointed time I shall show compassion toward you and toward your descendants.’”
10
“The Syriac recension expresses that period symbolically as five days and half a day, understood in its later tradition as five thousand five hundred years.”
11
“‘You were driven from the Garden into ground producing thorn and thistle; your back bends, your knees weaken, your flesh returns to earth.’”
12
“‘Yet corruption shall not hold you forever.’”
13
“The received Christian layer then places the future Deliverer’s birth, fasting, washing, suffering, and death upon the wood within this promise of Adam’s restoration.”
14
“HaSefarim preserves that received layer while distinguishing it from the older Adamic and creation traditions beneath it.”
15
Adam continued: “Know also, Shet, that a Flood will come upon the whole earth because violence and bloodshed have multiplied through the descendants of Qayin.”
16
“The tradition connects Qayin’s killing of Hevel with jealousy and with strife surrounding their sister.”
17
“The Flood will purge the land, yet the human line will continue afterward.”
18
“The received Prophecy says that after the Flood the form of this world continues through a measured six-thousand-year period before its appointed completion.”
19
“At the end, fire and Judgment are described as purifying what stands before Elohim, and the earth is renewed for the purpose appointed to it.”
20
Then Shet added his own witness: “I, Shet, wrote the testament of Adam my father.”
21
“When my father died, he was buried toward the east of the Garden, opposite the first city associated in this tradition with Chanokh.”
22
“The heavenly messengers and powers accompanied his burial because Adam had been fashioned in the image of Elohim.”
23
“The sun and moon were darkened, and thick darkness remained for seven days according to the received account.”
24
“We sealed the writing with the seals associated with Adam and Chavah and placed it in the Cave of Treasures.”
25
“With it were placed gold, myrrh, and incense connected in the Eastern tradition with what Adam had carried or received after leaving the Garden.”
26
“The later Christian continuation says that sons of kings, the Magi, would one day take these treasures and carry them to the child born in Beit-Lechem of Yehudah.”
27
“Thus the writing of Adam was preserved together with the treasures as a testimony for generations still to come.”
