Yannes was struck with a grievous sickness, remembered in the tradition with sores that prevented the magicians from standing securely before Mosheh.

The body in which Yannes had trusted became a witness against the limits of his art.

As he withdrew from the royal presence, he sent word to Pharaoh that the power working through Mosheh was from the divine realm and could not be treated as ordinary magic.

Yet Pharaoh did not turn.

Yannes returned toward his house carrying disease, fear, and the knowledge that the warning given years earlier was being fulfilled.
