1
After the former king died, another king arose in Yerushalayim.
2
People accused the sons of Rekhav of separating themselves from the customs of the rest of the population.
3
The king summoned them and demanded to know who they were.
4
They answered that they were descendants of Yonadav son of Rekhav and that their discipline had begun in response to the warning proclaimed by Yirmeyahu.
5
They explained that their father had commanded them not to drink wine or eat bread prepared by fire during the period of petition.
6
Because Yahuah had shown mercy, they continued the way voluntarily.
7
The king told them to return to ordinary life, eat and drink with the people, and serve both Elohim and the king.
8
They answered that they would not abandon the command they had received.
