1
Yirmeyahu and Baruk entered the House according to the Word given to them.
2
The heavenly command concerned the vessels of the sacred service so that the Kasdim would not seize and profane them.
3
Yirmeyahu called the faithful servants connected with the House and instructed them concerning what must be hidden.
4
The earth was commanded to receive certain sacred things until the appointed restoration.
5
Yirmeyahu cried to Yahuah that the city was His and the House was His, and asked how both could be handed into the hands of enemies.
6
The answer did not deny the coming destruction; instead it promised that what was preserved would remain for another time.
7
The prophet was commanded to seal the sacred things with seven seals and entrust them to hidden places.
8
Four heavenly messengers were appointed around the city to restrain destruction until the preservation was complete.
9
The vessels, priestly garments, sacred fire, and other holy objects were hidden according to the different forms of the tradition.
10
After this Yirmeyahu remembered Avimelekh, the trustworthy Ethiopian servant associated with his deliverance.
11
He feared that Avimelekh would witness the destruction and be crushed by grief.
12
Yirmeyahu therefore sent Avimelekh away from the city to the estate of Agrippa to gather figs for the sick among the people.
13
He instructed him to carry the figs back quickly.
14
Avimelekh departed without understanding that his errand would become the means by which he was kept from seeing the destruction.
15
Yirmeyahu and Baruk remained near the city as the armies approached.
16
The appointed preparations were completed and the hidden things were entrusted to the earth until the time determined by Yahuah.
