1
When I finished speaking the Words of this prayer, I sat beneath a tree to rest in the shade of its branches.
2
I wondered, marveled, and meditated in my thoughts upon the abundant good sinners on earth rejected and the great torment they despised while knowing they were tormented for sinning.
3
While I considered these things and those like them, behold, Rama’el—the messenger standing over visions of Truth—was sent to me and said:
4
Why does your heart trouble you, Baruk, and why does your thought disturb you?
5
If you are shaken merely by hearing a report of the Judgment, what when you see it openly with your eyes?
6
If expectation of the Day of the Mighty One has dissolved you so, what when you reach its coming?
7
If the Word of the good and the torment of those who strayed has frightened you, how much more when the cloud itself reveals the wonders?
8
If hearing the names of the good and evil things coming then distressed you, what when you see what reveals the greatness that reproves these and delights those?
