1
On the next night I saw a great eagle rise from the sea.
2
It had twelve feathered wings and three heads.
3
The wings spread over the whole earth, and the winds of heaven blew upon it.
4
From its wings arose smaller opposing feathers.
5
The eagle established rule across the earth.
6
One wing arose to reign, then disappeared.
7
Another arose and ruled longer than the first.
8
Voices announced that the eagle’s appointed time was shortening.
9
Wings rose and fell, some quickly and some after longer rule.
10
The three heads remained until the later portion of the vision.
11
I saw the eagle’s disorder increasing as its parts competed for rule.
12
Then a lion came out from a forest and roared against the eagle.
13
The lion said, “Are you not the last of the four beasts seen by Dani'el?”
14
“You have ruled the world with terror, oppression, falsehood, and contempt.”
15
“You judged the earth without righteousness and consumed the meek.”
16
“Therefore your time has come to an end.”
17
The eagle trembled at the lion’s rebuke.
18
I awoke and petitioned for interpretation.
19
Uri'el said, “The eagle is the kingdom shown fourth to Dani'el, but the vision is now given with more detail.”
20
“Its wings are rulers who arise within that imperial order.”
21
“Some reign briefly; some for longer periods.”
22
“The three heads are the final concentrations of its power.”
23
“One head shall die upon its bed; another shall fall by the sword; the last shall be destroyed when the Anointed rebukes the empire.”
24
“The lion from the forest is the Anointed preserved by El Elyon for the end.”
25
“He shall rebuke the nations for their lawlessness and set the surviving people in order.”
26
“He shall bring joy to those who remained faithful until the Day of Judgment.”
27
I asked concerning the smaller feathers and the final turmoil.
28
Uri'el explained that rulers would struggle against one another, and the empire would be divided against itself.
29
“When its own members consume one another, its end is near.”
30
I was commanded to write the vision in a Sefer and conceal it for those able to understand it.
31
I remained in the field because another vision was appointed.
