1
Yirmeyahu entered Yerushalayim and cried before the people:
2
“Hear the Word of Yahuah, House of Yisra’el. Do not trust in walls, gates, sacrifice, or inherited privilege while your hands practice violence.
3
The House is set apart because of the Name and the service appointed there; stone does not protect those who despise the Covenant.
4
Return from idols and injustice. Restore what has been taken. Judge the orphan and the widow with righteousness.”
5
But many mocked him and said, “The city of Daviyd shall not fall, and the House cannot be abandoned.”
6
Yirmeyahu answered, “You make the promise of Elohim into permission for rebellion. The promise does not excuse lawlessness.”
