Eved-Melekh heard that Yirmeyahu had been cast into the cistern.

He went quickly to Tzidqiyahu and said, “These ishim have done evil. The prophet will die in the pit.”

The king commanded him to take ishim and raise Yirmeyahu out.

Eved-Melekh lowered soft cloth so that the ropes would not tear the prophet’s flesh.

Yirmeyahu was lifted from the mire and brought into the court of the guard.

Yahuah remembered the compassion of Eved-Melekh.
