The Word concerning Eved-Melekh came to Yirmeyahu:

“Because he trusted in Me and did not fear the powerful when innocent blood was threatened, I shall preserve his life when the city falls.”

Yirmeyahu told Eved-Melekh the promise.

The Kushite bowed and gave thanks to Yahuah.

Then the prophet looked upon Yerushalayim and wept for the judgment already at the gates.
