Hoshea was remembered as coming from the region of Belemot and from Yissakhar. He died in peace and was buried in his own land.

His memorial sign concerns an oak at Shiloh: when the tree divided of itself into twelve, the tradition read the division as a sign concerning the twelve tribes and the coming visitation.
